CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

I think time has proven that Wenger isn't a very good defensive coach. I don't think he'd have won half as much without that back four in place and a great keeper.

You have to give Wenger credit for the way his Invincible team defended. He brought in Lehmann, Lauren, Campbell and Kolo Toure, and promoted Ashley Cole from the youth team.

They've been awful at the back in recent years though. Campbell still hasn't been replaced.

Just to press the point a bit on that famous back line do you feel he revitalised them or were they fine anyway?

The back 5 was old and lived unprofessional life style. They have all spoken about how he made their career longer by completely changing their diet and training regime. They spoke about how the players were not happy early on as he took out all the fizzy drinks and chocolate from the canteen. Late 90s alot of players were drinking alot as well and he told them you have to decrease your drinking alot of you wanna play on. Luckily for him the players bought into his methods. So he made them fitter and longed their careers, but they were already top defenders. Just lacked guidance

There's no way to tell but I don't think we would. The donkey was getting chance after chance and only they looked like they wanted it. Even so it's a terrible tactic to sit on a 1 goal lead for over an hour IMO. I don't know why either as it's bit us on the arse loads of times before then.

Mentality. A lot of teams still see Liverpool as a undefeatable monster no matter how poor they are, especially at Klanfield. We have that.

Sadly our players haven't got it instilled in them that when they go into a game they can win. It's why, whenever we are favourites or need to win to progress, we folder under expectation.

When the chips are down and we're the underdogs we tend to win.

Serious question.

If Moyes could add another 10 players to our squad, on an average salary of £100k a week, do you think we'd finish in the top 4?

It's the doubles and the invincible years and the CL finals and the leagues in two countries that set Wenger apart, rather than the current two points if I'm honest.

Arsene what's your gut feel on why Arsenal won't spend mega?

Is it Wenger or do you think the board are reining him in OR the stadium is sucking up more dough than disclosed?

he's not very good defensive coach, but he's a very good attacking coach. On the other hand the invisibles only conceded 26 goals and the back 5 was bought by Wenger

That was a really good side. TBH though without taking anything away from an amazing achievement I think your defensive record was so good because no one could get the ball of you.

I considered Lehmann an awful keeper.

EXACTLY.

Ah right.

Nobody thinks Wenger is anything but an excellent manager who has achieved loads.

Yet even he has managed to win nothing with Arsenal in the last 8 years despite spending an additional HALF A BILLION on his squad in that time.

How do you explain that?

New stadium curse - every club who build a new stadium turn to mush.

Clearly the answer is don't own one - like City

How do you explain Cardiff having played in more cup finals than us in Moyes time despite them never being a top flight club and operating on a budget tiny compared to ours?

How do you explain Swansea, or indeed Bradford, winning a trophy before us?

How do you explain that?

Winning trophies in england is hard, Wenger has made a lot of mistakes, and they haven't prioritised the cups the way they should.

It's the worst prolonged spell of Wenger's career and in terms of achievement it still vastly outstrips the best of Moyes (multiple finals, and semis 2nd and3rd places, CL every year etc).
