Come in David Nugent, your time is up...

Is Wigan your 2nd team? :D
No that's actually Sheffield Wednesday.

I just believe that Landzaat would be a cheap but good addition to the squad. He is the same calming figure that Neville is, but unlike Neville this guy can dictate a game.

Baines is just superb, both at defending and pushing forward.

Wasn't all that then after all.

Back to Nugent, I really think we should sign him, don't pay over the odds and I do think a part ex is a superb idea.

AJ, Nugent, Vaughan, Fads & Anichebe. Not bad eh?

I say yes but dependent on what price- 8m is too much in my opinion, but with all the extra money floating around next season someone will probably pay it. If the transfer kitty is what is being touted (20M) then he could be a part of that spend my break down would be this:

5m Nugent
7m Fernandes
5m Left back
8m Left side mid
= 25m

Beattie sold for 2.5m
Naysmith 1m
Pistone free
Ossie 2m
= 5.5m

Add to this maybe a freebie/loan or two then that is a decent squad to be getting on with.

No, I honestly believe we did not miss out on anything - Moyes should have gone for Agger though.

AJ, Nugent, Vaughan, Fads & Anichebe. - yeah like the sound of it. All pacey, but with different strenghts to keep variety in our attack.

Just to throw a swerveball, with Charlton going down, whats the deal with the Darren Bent - anyone know? I'd have thought he would be he'd be available for a reasonable amount, although is he too much like AJ in his play?

As for Nugent, I've only heard bits and pieces about him, being half way around the world, we don't see too much of the Championship, and bugger all international games. He scored 15 goals in 43 games, compared with 15 from 33 for Bent. Like I say, I've see nothing of the guy.

I have been thinking that also Blue. Bent coming available at a 6 mil price tag, I would pay for that. and proven in the prem unlike Nugent. as Simpson said, he had to question Nugent's commitment over recent months. maybe that was as he had his eyes elsewhere but still, it is not a professional attitude.

p.s post number 200. woop woop.

Dont get me wrong lads lads i like both as players and wouldnt be against seeing either in Blue permently during the summer, but i think its important that we seperate the hearts from the heads on both Nugent and Fernandes.

Firstly i think we have to get this idea that boyhood evertoians are essentially going to give us something extra than other palyers available, lets face it we all would, but than were not being paid 35k a week.

Lets checkout the most recent "boy hood evertonians" weve had:

Gary "Trying to get out of here with" Speed.
Francis "one hand in your pocket" Jeffers.
Micheal "International Ambition" Ball.
Wayne "Just visiting my Grandma" Rooney.

It doesnt mean what it used to do when the Joe Royles of this world were playing.

Dont get me wrong i wouldnt be disapointed if he signed. But i think we are being too guided by the fact that he is a blue. We shouldnt pay over the odds at what he is worth at 4.5 mill coming into the last year of his contract, 5 mill max depending on success.

For example if it came to a choice of one of the three from ashton, bent or nugent. The nuge would be bottom of the list. Would we as fans be as keen if he was a boyhood red.

In a contrast, Joey Barton is reported to be a boyhood blue but most people would prefer we sign fernandes. Personally i beleive him a snip at 5.5mill and could add more than fernades in the short and long term. Persoanlly id like both but tham im greddy!

HOWEVER, with the prospect of several more games next season in the UEFA, it would not hurt to have a healthy contingent to pick from. He wouldn't be my first choice signing, I think the midfield needs some addressing first, but he certainly wouldn't hurt to have him onboard, IF the price is right.

I still stand by that :)

Question time, will it be consider illegal tapping if we indeed communicate with nugent and advise him to reject any moves to other team just so that we can sign him up at a cheaper deal?

i reckon so, interfering(sp) with a player not owned by the club could be punishable. unless its west ham that is.
