@peteblue I get what you are saying about what are they actually doing. It's a very narrow view but I do get it.

I feel like you are missing the point entirely on what they are trying to actually do, which is to make actual change of world leaders minds on what should be on the forefront of their agendas going forward.

I understand that, I really do. The UN speeches etc are wonderful, but if coupled with targeted action would really drive the message home. Every other week in London someone is walking around demonstrating about something or another, eventually people switch off. Believe me I am not the only one who was thinking ‘why aren’t they in school’ ......

Whatever it is she wishes we would do. can you tell me exactly what she wishes we would do.......

I think she is saying that "she" cant do much but put her recycling out, but the powerful have in their powers to "do" more to protect the planet. Cant see why anyone would argue that isnt a laudable aim for one so young.

Only in that we would wish to avoid it. However we are the actual people she needs to convince.....
If she would just stop talking to the UN and being the figurehead for a global movement, went back to school and studied very, very hard she might one day grow up to achieve some thing worthwhile, like addressing the UN and being the face of a global movement.

I think, just perhaps, convincing those thst have the power to actually make change happen, might be a prudent tactic than convincing @peteblue and his pals at the 'Mau Mau Supression' Public House to go vegan.

Of course it’s laudable, as is ending poverty, disease, war, but is it practicable. Why would China rein back its power plants as it continues to become prosperous. Why does anyone think that the world will come to an end because of climate change rather than disease or war. It’s a wonderful big picture, without one single practical step in actually doing anything about it......

You’re easily pleased.....

Picking up litter is a lovely gesture, but it does not have the slightest connection to carbon emissions.

You are conflating two things which don't relate.

Only concerted action by governments around the world can transform the economy away from carbon.

But governments around the world are thus far refusing to take the crisis seriously.

Hence the protests.
I think we must start with ourselves first
