Current Affairs Climate Change Demonstrations.....

Perhaps, but 500,000 people is the equivalent of 2,000 people working for a year. Now just imagine what you could achieve with a 2,000 strong workforce for a year. Laudable aims but a shocking use of energy. I’m not a big fan of demonstrations in cities.....
It’s more likely that 2k extra people will work in this area thanks to .5m marching than not. Awareness turns into action. I genuinely can’t believe this needs explaining to you, talking about waste of energy...

What could you feasibly achieve, in climate change terms, with a workforce, of the average person, in a year.

Maybe the hope is that it inspires people, individuals to do more or see the area as an important dlfield to dedicate their work too. Although, I'm sure there are clearly small social Enterprises working to this effect, but an organisation that pays people to protest outside Tesco?

You really must do something about your anger. I’ve already raised 4 brilliant children thank you. You are seemingly trying to portray folk in here as ‘hating children’ or ‘frightened that they may be smarter’, when the exact opposite is the truth. I want kids to enjoy being kids, there’s more than enough time in life to get wound up about this issue or that issue. Meanwhile, back to my question, what happens next......
You really seem to like putting emotion onto everyone's reply to you. So as to make them look bad. I see from previous posts you do it quite a bit.

The only one that seems angry and upset is you. Angry and upset that teenage kids have the audacity to want to mobilise and do something for their future.

Even in this reply you give the game up and prove what all of us have being saying. You see teenagers as kids and they should only be that and not consider having a voice because they are "kids".

Having read the rest of your responses to everyone else you are just some stubborn guy your point or the highway.

My kids are in their late 30’s and early 40’s, they are still kids, never mind teenagers....

What has more effect, a single march of 500,000 people or 500 targeted activities of 1000 people.........

What an odd question.

I'll entertain it for a moment though....do you think, that targeted prayer and church fundraisers were more important to the civil Rights movement than the March on Washington?

Do 500 beach clean ups have more effect than a March with 500,000 people?

Mate I think we got off on the wrong foot. Not sure when you decided I was angrily attacking you. Its not my intention.

I dont even know you and I respect your position. I was merely pointing out that if you see all kids as kids then maybe its.blinding you to the fact that they are young adults with brains and their own thoughts. Some kids would rather do stuff like this than play games or do whatever it is teens do nowadays.

Again I wasn't talking about your kids. You said every kid should just enjoy life and not worry about stuff like these demonstrations. Clearly you don't hate yours or anyone else's so for that I apologise. At the same time not respecting what teens want to be and do.in life and not accepting that they have changed and would rather be active in change that will affect their own lives.

In answer to your question though. Who knows where this goes next. We could have said the same about any demonstration and mass protests in the past. What were their goals? What was the point? Look at the people in Hong Kong. Still no movement by China but have they given up?

Look at Puerto Rico. The people all of them men, women and children wanted the governor out so they went to the streets and it worked.

Sometimes being a nuisance helps. Disruption in a peaceful way can illicit change.

Heck I know when I am driving and some tool.causes a traffic jam because his crap car broke down it can be annoying.

We as adults have complain about millenials and gen z kids being lazy and wanting everything on a plate. Now alot of them have woke as they would say and decided that there is a cause they want to be part off.

Sure some of them are taking the mick and just happy to miss school isnt that always the case with humans.

Anyway I dont want to get into an argument with you and end up being hostile and.have these pointless back and forth like some do.

yes, 500 beach clean ups do have more effect than a single March........

I would rather see 500 beaches cleaned up than a single march, what is deluded about that.....
Your point was which 'is more effective', not which would you like to see.

As I said, prayer and church fundraisers during the civil rights movement paled into insignificance compared to the March on Washington.

One captures national attention and changes legislation, the other is just small reactive intervention.

what legislation has changed because of the Marches ?......
