Either do something or don’t do something. If you are going to do something at least make sure there is an end product....

But awareness is what they are raising and they have clearly done that. You are talking nonsense because you’ve taken against young people trying to affect change. Or do you believe nothing should be done unless you can achieve everything? No point playing football if it’s not champions league

Thank you for these. China remains the largest producer of carbon emissions causing 1 million premature deaths. It states that China spends more on renewables than anyone else at $91Bn, while the USA only spends $49Bn and Europe $61Bn, but as the populations of the USA and the EU combined are less than China what does this fact actually mean ?...

China's 91B can go a lot further than the USA or Europe b/c the cost of labor is cheaper. Plus China is the world's factory so of course they are produce quite a bit. However per capita their CO2 has flatlined despite continued ecomonic growth and a continued building boom.

They’ve done the big picture, but trying to boil the ocean doesn’t work. Little steps, relentless little steps. Pick on one or two key issues, the overuse of plastics at supermarkets for instance and protest outside of every Tesco shop in the land, and keep doing it. Then they would get real attention and will take a small step forward when the supermarkets drive the change back into their suppliers. Walking around London etc looks good on the Tv for ten seconds, but nothing really changes.....
Shutting down city infrastructure seems to be gathering attention and creating influence. I think the strategy seems to be go high profile and headline news in an effort to leverage political action, through change in legislation.

I would suggest it might be more sensible use of time and effort than protesting each individual Tesco store.

Half a million people marched in Montreal yesterday. Millions have marched in 170 countries. If you can’t see the power of this movement and it’s ability to shape political and industrial policy, there’s not much More I can say to convince you.

Millions of people have walked around and gained publicity but achieved nothing. Other than the awareness, publicity, column inches etc what have they actually achieved....

Perhaps, but 500,000 people is the equivalent of 2,000 people working for a year. Now just imagine what you could achieve with a 2,000 strong workforce for a year. Laudable aims but a shocking use of energy. I’m not a big fan of demonstrations in cities.....

It will probably cost Trudeau his job, ensuring that he is the last Liberal leader who thinks he can get away with subsidizing oil pipelines, so long as a he paints a rainbow on them.
