City getting clapped off yesterday

Nah, the Invisible Arsenal team hitting four past us were the best.

Wier and Stubbs must still be having nightmares about Henry, Pires and Bergkamp.
We had a few hidings by that particular Arsenal team, home and away. This City team is better IMO. Good shout though.

Also I've got to say there's nothing really shameful about getting beat by City, but Everton looked completely lost out there, they've lost the team spirit they used to have when Moyes and Martinez were around. It looks to me that the old guys like Jags, Baines and Coleman don't really have the locker room clout that they may have had before. Most of the new signings just don't look like they give a sh*t about Everton as much as the fans do.

And it ain’t just City.

Did anyone clap Spurs or Arsenal or Lyon or Atalanta or even Burnley off when they did a comprehensive number on us as well?

Heck, so did Bournemouth and Watford, whom both should have been home and hosed before Oumar saved the day.

So did West Ham for the opening twenty minutes of the second half.

Yesterday was not so much about City being a great side as it was about Everton performing every bit as badly at home as we have done on plenty of occasions this season, under three different managers.

The RS will not stand off and say “after you, Claude” every time a City player has the ball this coming midweek.

Is it too late and/or too expensive to turn the clock back to the day after Bobby was fired and look for someone with his “philosophy” but whom is better at implementing it?
Don't know mate but I can't see any acceptable alternative. We've got youth teams who are used to playing that way, we've got a bunch of youngsters who've done well on loan in the Championship. We desperately need an excellent DOF, i think @Timak shout of Ralf Rangnick for DOF is a good one. We then need to appoint a progressive young manager such as Fonseca and give them time as its going to take a few years. We'll need to sign a few players in the summer, then let's work on signing a couple of quality players every year after that to gradually build the team up. The Premier League is pretty poor apart from Man City and it wouldn't take much to get back up to 7th playing decent football and then build from there.

No, you cannot draw any comparisons between Guardiola and Martinez. Martinez was a mess. Yes, it was exciting at times but he was completely unable to adapt. He got himself sacked because of his very poor results.
In November, Kevin De Bruyne publicly criticised his 'tactics'.

"Mexico were just tactically better. Their system made our five defenders sit deep and we were swimming in midfield - it was five against seven," he told Het Laatste Niewus .

"Look, we still put too much on our talents. As long as we don't have a good tactical system, we will have difficulties against countries like Mexico. It's a pity that we have not yet found a solution.

"Of course we play with a system that is in principle very defensive, but it is filled with many attacking players who want the ball.

"Then you have a bit of a problem, like against Mexico. It was a match in which we had very little possession and everyone in a system that doesn't really fit. We now know that something must be changed against such teams.

"But eventually Martinez decides. I think the trainer has to find a solution so that we can avoid such situations as against Mexico in the future."

Though I'm not a fan of the clapping. That's worse than when people clapped Naisy scoring against us.

Yet how many prem teams play like Pep? They all know that a pass picked off creates a scrambling defence, and many teams just don't want to deal with that. Liverpool probably gets the closest to playing like Man City, but they don't really keep the ball in possession as long as Man City can do it.

Btw, that pass and move football looks easy, but why is it David Silva (and De Bruyne) are the only players that can consistently do it.

The fact that Everton play Rooney in the midfield, just so that the team can string a few passes together, tells you everything you have to know about the quality of the Everton midfield.
Correct, that's why they can steam roller teams with bang average players like Henderson/Can/Milner/Wjilandrum because their movement creates a simple pass.

I agree with most of what you say but this is exaggeration simply because we have to factor in our performance which was tactically inept, devoid of energy/desire with a team filled with players who are either not good enough or past their best and a manager in charge who is up there with the worse managers we've ever seen at Goodison.
Maybe not so much the score line, but it was the control over the whole game that really impressed me. They won the game in the first 20 minutes with sparkling football and then just went through the motions without breaking sweat. Perfect preparation for their midweek game.

I take everything on board what you say about our own performance, but I'll guarantee you'd have said something similar after all the other games where we have been hammered.

I've certainly seen us set up badly before but no pressing, no tackling, no energy, absolutely nothing. The fact that it was a record possession for an away team in the Premier League speaks volumes.

Totally disagree, Peps way of playing is the easiest way of playing football, something you get taught at a very early age PASS and MOVE!!! not 'kin Lump and jump!! 95% of their passes are 10 yard passes to men who have created a bit of space. Theirs no step overs or tricks or crazy mazy runs, just clever movement.
That's why I prefer watching our younger teams than the first XI these days. They pass and move, and you can see that in the kids when they first come into the seniors. Then it get's coached out of them as safety first becomes the order of the day.

We all accept mediocrity, from the fan base to the owners to the manager to the pundits.

Rival fans think we’re pointless. Our own fans get carried away by signings like Schneiderlin and other dross from Man U (Rooney).

Until our whole approach and philosophy changes, we’ll always be a nothing club.

Sick of Everton, not even bothered anymore.

This though!!! We're small time and it's deep routed in our whole philosophy!! I love this club but until it changes it's mindset from top to bottom we will always be small time!

Look at our choices for next manager fonseca and Silva? What have they done? What have they prooven?

If Moshiri is serious he needs go out and make a statement! Money talks go an pay top manager to take us forward for the long term and back him!

Given up watching the first team away, have to watch them at home because of season ticket but I can honestly say the last few years the only real pleasure has been watching the kids play!
