Champions League should be our goal...

I think winning the Europa league and qualifying for it again with a good league position should be the goal this season.

Realistically I believe we don't have the squad depth or finances to take that next step to get into the champs league.

Well I do think its a possibility.

And you think that "It's plain and simple we wont get 4th. If you can't see that your deluded."

Not 'if you think we'll get top four you're deluded' but 'if you don't think it's never going to happen you're deluded'.

And that irritated me because again it's only one league posiiton we're talking about. I don't think its deluded to say it still a possibiltiy.

It wasn't irritating enough for me to call you a dick and tell you to go away, mind, cos you seem a decent enough guy but it did irritate me.

Sorry if I caused offence bruv. In my opinion it just isn't a possibility.

No your not basing it on fact at all. The only fact you keep reeling off is that it happened 4 years. It means nothing this year.

What are your facts this year? What is your opinion on why we will finish 4th this year? Apart from "it happened 4 years ago"???? Got any? Or is that it???

can you explain to me what is different this year from 4 years ago then?

you say the teams around us have improved, 4 years ago had they not improved from the previous year as well, while we seemingly stagnated? i'd really like to see some real evidence, since i've given you laundry lists of it.

Us negative Nigels dont half get a bad press, just becuase we are not all happy clappy we are considered to be some sort of anti-christ. I mean how dare we question the running of our football club.

From my point of view I see us being so close, we just need a few more players, we cant get them in for whatever reason. I really hope we have a successful season, but its going to have be a lucky season.

"We have got 13 or 14 players which I am happy with and we have some up-and-coming youngsters as well which gives us great hope," thats from Moyes himself, hes just repeating what we are saying really, yes we have an excellent first 11 when everybody is fit, but some postions we are lacking and some postions we need cover and depth.

If Moyes is only happy with 14 players, that means that hes going to need another 4 players to have a full squad of 18 and as I say, that also means we would have to be lucky with regards injury.

Its not all flowers and sunshine, yes we moan and whine, but we still support the club 100%, we still turn up and support the players on the pitch, we might be whiny little feckers, but you cant say we arent loyal.

The difference now to 4 years?

Obviously the top 4 are better - since no one else has broken in to it - no doubt you'll see that as the 16 other teams aren't as good.

The question is...what's different this season to last season? and the season before that? and the season before that?

We all know that 14 of those players will run through brick Walls for him...there's no freeloaders in that squad...probably apart frm lescott hehe

I largely agree with you Mikelsgoat, but the reason I started the thread (perhaps I've just had a brilliant day) was a sudden outburst of optimism after watching the 04/05 season review on DVD cos my missus is away :D - and seeing all the goals again (some of which I was actually at goodison for) mae me think...

Why not this season as well? I think our team will be better, if we can hold out (i.e. get some 1-0 wins) till Arteta and Jags get fit.

You go to Kipper lid. This is a local forum, for local people, who like negative things.

It's not and it's never been.
Nor has it been all hippy happy. It was set up as somewhere sound, but away from all the whoppers who moan like **** over nothing and come out with flippant, media influenced paranoid sh*te every close season like what is creeping now.
So it was an alright place to post and not weighed down by bullshit posting.
Thats how you all found your way here, and thats why you liked it. Now some recent arrivals think it's ok to post absolute drivel and unfortunately get backed up by some others so they think they're validated in that opinion.
It's against the grain of what here is so naturally it will get shouted down by those who've been around a lot longer that most of you, as we are, you are guests on here so save that continuous flippant opinion for somewhere else where it will be appreciated. We've seen it before, almost every pre season on here and it gets proved wrong.

True, he's an 'in your face' type poster, that's his style. If Danny feels he's doing something wrong them I'm sure he'll deal with it.

All I know is he's entitled to his opinion and he shouldn't be told to go to Kipper' because he has a different (negative) opinion of Everton football club.

TB - I'm saying that negativity is not really required here - for reasons that Chico has already said.

I like to think that this forum was born out of the ashes of a right miserable forum ran by a right miserable lad, and those of us who remember him can vouch for that.

I said that the lad should go to Kipper because he would be able to vent fury and be negative and he would not be alone there.

That is all.

No harm in pointing someone in the right place.

Agreed.
The boy is a tad annoying.

He's only 17. Not trying to insult him, but this is the best side Everton have had since he was born. I could list about 50 players he never had the misfortune to watch.

In a word, he's never had it so good.

Think the winner of the prem will have like 80-85pts and the 4th place team will have in the high 70s. Everybody's pick to fall Arsenal, well I think they could win the league this year, they'll be very very good. There will be a log jam at the top and we are still a thin squad. With Lescott potentially leaving and Arteta still out getting in the high 70s is too great a task for us (unless we crash out of all cup competetions). That being said I hope I'm wrong and we seemed to get better results the more players got hurt.

i'll spare you a smiley, chico but this post is right on the button.

it's difficult to put a finger on when this turned from a balanced/ slightly positive forum to knee jerk threads and terrible sniping at the club we love.

as ghost said, it's scary to think how poor we were just 10 years back. survival on the last day by a single goal anybody? that was worth threads on how poor and bleak things look.

the two 5th place finishes and a cup final appearance must have every team outside the top 4 green with envy.

we are not a selling club any more so we don't have to worry about the rug being pulled from beneath us.

we have a top 5 team, just like last season and as moyes said he is looking to pad out the squad with a couple of signings before the window shuts.

so can we think about where we are and where we have come from before irritating 'bring your boots' threads and the like.

But tries to dismiss opinion of loads who have seen the dark days.
And glorifies racist banners too.
Boss opinion reference that.

What banner? I noticed the Joleon one and felt that was a little bit harsh.

I have him on ignore so I can't check.
