Then Arteta fell victim and Pienaar superbly filled the void and when Jagielka suffered yet another long term injury, Yobo proved a more than adequate replacement. My concern is that this will not always be the case and without strength in squad depth, we may be found wanting at some stage.

5th 2 seasons on the run, net spend last summer of £2m, net spent so far this season ZERO. All it needs is a little push and we could be up there.

I didnt say we will get fourth i said we would be competitive for it. Am very confident though.
You do know if we beat Arsenal tomorow there will be people on here saying we could win the league.
Like ive been saying all summer, we have a lot of quality in our squad already, dont worry me and Moyesy know the storey!
Listen, Moyes will not put up with such a lack of funds for much longer. I do not believe we are punching above our weight but i feel we can only go so far. Breaking into the top 4 this season is asking a bit much to be honest although it is not an impossibility, but you can continue to be deluded if you wish if you believe we are in a better position now than this time in previous seasons.

It's plain and simple we wont get 4th. If you can't see that your deluded. We aren't good enough - simple as.
The reasons I don't think we'll get 4th are;
1. We haven't got good enough backup to the first team if any get long term injuries. Plain and simple.
2. Other teams around us have strengthened their squads, notably City, Spurs and Sunderland. I think Sunderland will do quite well this year. This combined with the fact we've weakened our squad doesn't give me a lot of confidence.
3. Arsenal might have not strengthened, but I guarantee Eduardo and Arshavin will have a bigger impact this season - more than Adebayor ever ever did - and we aren't catching Chelsea, United or Liverpool.
4. I can see us doing OK in the Europa League, can't see us winning it. This means we've got a helluva load'a games to be played. Again, our squad simply isn't big/good enough.
5. We haven't got enough quality in our team. You look at the top 4. United have got quality through and through, Liverpool have got possibly the best partnership in the world in Gerrard and Torres (Azzbot you bad Kopite - I'm not arsed) Chelsea have got Lampard, Drogba and Anelka, who are all quality, I think Malouda will shine this year also. Arsenal have Arshavin and Eduardo, who are awesome as well. We haven't got someone else other than Mikel - who isn't on par with any of the above mentioned (imo). Don't get me wrong, we've got Pienaar and Yak as well, who are awesome, even Saha, but they aren't quality as in your Rooney's, Torres', Gerrard's etc.
That's my opinion why we wont get 4th like.

I agree with all of that with the exception of Sunderland. Yes, they have strengthened well and should do ok, just dont think they will challenge for a European place. I am not saying you claimed tat but just put my opinion in. Other than that, i agreed withe everything.
