Cancelling this season's Premier League

Yes exactly. The moment they are gifted a title they haven't earned then Leeds, West Brom, Fulham and about a dozen other clubs open legal challenges for their right to be awarded PL status, as you have established the principle that somebody is capable of making judgements based upon an incomplete season. It's a massive headache.

When faced with that dilemma, of one club being gifted a trophy they haven't earned, versus 19 clubs being potentially liable for the litigation costs of such a decision, it's easy to see what conclusion is arrived at.

Not sure that what happens with the title in the premier league would legally affect what happens with the title in the championship as the premier league and football league are seperately run.

Of course relegation is a different matter altogether.

Rather they didn’t sell anyone from the current squad because they’ll get £200m for them and Klopp will buy another 3 world class players. Just need Klopp to disappear.

You can’t make a decision at 1 end and not at the other though hence why the PL is very lucky not one thing is settled, it makes it easy for them.

I’m just surprised that people can’t seem to grasp how this is going to play out, even people in the press etc. For me there is no real alternative to null and void, it’s by far the simplest and cheesiest option.

IMO I think senior officials at every PL club know that’s the way it’s going to end, it’s a no brainier for virtually every club bar Liverpool.

I think even United would give up CL footy and take the hit to ensure there biggest rivals in terms of global fan base and marketing stay at 30 years plus without a title.

I genuinely dont mind if they get it or not. It wont go down as a normal season and wouldnt be a normal title if they got it.

This season is finished as far as I'm concerned and is no longer in the least bit important.

BBC website today has Wilder saying the opposite. He thinks that for the 'integrity of the competition and competitions, especially near the top end..........they'll want to finish the season. I believe there will be an ability next year to adjust...............we have the ability through organisation and planning to finish the season off'.

Understandable from his perspective given this must be Sheff Utd's potential highest finish for 20? 30? odd years. I would not expect him or Sheff Utd to fall into the void camp.

Easiest bluff to call ever. Familiarity and the same teams winning it every year would kill it as a spectacle. It doesn't fit any top sides brand to go years without winning anything either, which is what would happen when R Madrid and Barcelona invariably begin to dominate. Theyd go from having 2 major honours to compete for to 1 (domestic league and champs league to just the Super League).

Even a secondary tournament like a super league cup would be viewed like the Fa Cup pretty quickly.

But... I agree it's a really good idea!

That will be new then I seen him interviewed saying the season should be voided weeks ago.

Having read it now he’s basically saying what he thinks “they” will want to do.

I seen him interviewed giving his opinion on what he’d like to do, which was cancel the season.
