Calum McManaman

There's something about him that says bellend, but he's a great little player. Probably worth around £7-8 mill now though if they don't go down, which just isn't worth the risk.

Victor Moses went to Chelsea for just over £10m having cost them £2.5m and playing 74 times for them. McManaman is only just establishing himself, his goalscoring record is very modest and we're not a CL side. £5m would be a fair offer.

Again, Moses had 12 months left on his deal and was putting his foot down for a move. He isn't English and Chelsea still paid £9.5m for him. Wigan would laugh their b******s off at £5m, hes one of their main assets currently, you'd be talking double that to get them interested, and at present I don't think he's worth the biggest chunk of our budget.

McManaman has 3 years left on his deal and is clearly enjoying his Football. Even if Wigan accepted the paultry sum we could muster through sales, im not sure he'd turn his back on Wigan for the club who kicked him out only a few years ago.

It would if it meant Wigan go down, which is most likely.

would liverpool offer £20m for him?

I have watched him a fair bit recentley and he reminds me a bit of a young *gulp... Gerrard. He has that arrogance about him but ability to back it up. I thought after the FA Cup humbling I would like us to sign him. He is a blue too which would hopefully help his decision (like Jags and Baines who we also released in similar circumstances). Wigan would need to be relegated though to force their hand.

wonder how much a factor in players not making it after failing to breakthrough at everton is a direct result of shattered confidence combined with lack of playing time at a developmental stage having a long term effect on then when they eventually get shipped off at 19-22 years of age.

this lad bucks that trend but imagine if he had rotted at us for another 2-3 years before being released like a lot of others had, where would his level be then?

Makes a mockery of the moyes develops youth yadda yadda yadda bull**** you always see printed and gobbed off about in the media though. ****ing love it if the new manager plays barkley, duffy. lundstram, kennedy etc a fair bit next year and just wait for the press to start going on about the the new manager reaping the benefits of moyes superb development of youth lol

Couldn't agree more. For all the wonderful facilities we have brought through Rodwell and Barkley who both looked scared to express themselves. Yet we have supposedly had fabulous teams at youth levels. Kids will make mistakes but you have to learn your trade somewhere. I think Aston Villa is a good example. They have had a very rough season but they will benefit from the young lads getting experience. Some will not make the grade but they have unearthed some gems this year for very little outlay.

He's a big blue isn't he.

Fair play to lad for making it after being let go at 15 was prob the making of him.

He looks a good tenacious PL player - it's his first season don't forget, would he get into our team over Belg Kev - not so sure.
