The bit about the "Traveller Passport" is fake news.

The original bloke that posted it - who isn’t GRT - got mixed up with the planning definition of ‘gypsy status’, which has been around for decades. To get planning permission to build your own Traveller site you have to persuade the local council that you travel. It’s not done on ethnicity. It’s in planning law and has been there for decades. Most councils tend to just accept it if you say you are a Traveller but some don’t. There is no passport in the new laws coming in. They are bad - but not *that* bad. But tbf the Government don’t want anyone living on the road full stop.

So what has made the government decide to bring these in, like now, a particular protest?
Something must of been the final straw, or rather something has handed the government the excuse they needed to justify this, if it was the right wing anti lockdown pricks they have really made things difficult for people with a legitimate reason to protest.

80 seat Tory majority is all the reason they need.
300 page document was released on the Thursday, "debated" on the Monday, and the first vote took place on the Tuesday.

Being rammed thorugh as quick as they can, nobody had time to read/digest it properly. Probably because people are getting tired of their corruption and are starting to take to the streets about it. Solution: Ban the right to protest.

They have signed their own death warrant with these daft protests during a global kin pandemic.

TBH I'm surprised something like this hasn't happened already, the way this government has been rolling, and I'm fairly sure this is just the start of what's to come.

How do you get a travellers passport and what's the criteria, cant see that community playing along with that either.

Protests? Looked like the usual bunch of hooligans and layabouts letting off steam.

Is right. Peaceful protests are fine in themselves however they enable a small minority to cause absolute mayhem and thuggery. Now more than ever because they have nothing to do and this gives them the excuse to not only go out as a group but to smash/set fire to stuff and confront the police.

The message of the protests then gets watered down and sometimes worse thrown together with the violence and damage which turns the rest of the country off to their plight, not think 'you know what they're right'.

The Government wouldn't have the support needed if not for the violence at BLM, Sarah Everard & now Bristol + numerous other places during a global pandemic when large gatherings are ILLEGAL.

The rent a mob idiots have signed their own death warrant. I saw pictures of the Liverpool protesters and 90% looked about 17 - still getting their arses wiped by mum and dad what do they know about politics seriously its an excuse to get out the house and rebel against the rules as is the nature of teenagers.

Unfortunately they've gone and done it now and likely kicked lockdown further down the road and infected a few relatives in the process.

The bill is tosh. It's completely absurd and should not have been put through parliament.

It also, from a 'PR' point of view, can easily just be sold as something to prevent protests turning violent.

Then, idiots protest that, by attending mass gatherings, which aren't allowed due to current lockdown laws, and then those protests turn violent, completely undermining the point of the protest.

Don't think the path out will be impacted but agree with the general point.

I hate lockdown. Hate this last year and what it's done. But we're nearly turning a corner now. And this is why I was so p***** by the vigil/gathering for Sarah and now these idiots. Don't care whether they're left or right wing or black or white or gay or straight or whatever. Everyone of us have had to give things up in the last year. All these idiots have done is help the government justify this bill (and it's a torrid bill that should never have been put through).
