Brands & Silva press conference.

I took from the conference what I thought the dynamic would be. Brands is clearly in charge of transfers, but he's not going to buy anyone that wouldn't make sense for Silva. If Silva suggests people, fine, but it's on Brands. First team choices and tactics as well as the academy...the tactical direction is all Silva.

With the Watford compensation stuff still going on it would be folly to make public that they’ve been having coffee and biscuits for months chatting about Neymar and Carvalho

..good point, but I get the impression Brands was being up front when he said they first met 3 weeks ago after which he thought they could work together. I dare say they’ve had their own thoughts about incoming targets, but they might have been reconciling their lists in the last week or so.

The press conference was very predictible but it was very good for supporter morale.

Whether you think Allardyce did his job or not nobody can deny it was soul destroying having him as manager. Supporting the club felt like work. Dour, negative, small minded, ambitionless lump sat there breathing like a pig in every press conference. Then there was the football which Vinnie O'Conner mentioned a few months too late. Lowest shots, shots on target and chances created in the league.

It's easy to get carried away and build up Marcel and Marco based on nothing but at least you can feel enthusiastic about Everton again now.

Will there be bits and pieces that we didn't get to see in the press conference, but from the post conference interviews they did that went on for a few hours, be realeased in articles in the next 24 hours? Normally the case with in season PCs but they come out later that day/night a lot of the time and nothing so far

Getting a little extra from after the cameras went off tonight is probably more than likely.

I thought the presser was pretty good and straightforward with nothing more said than you would expect. The one thing that makes me think that these two are going to get a good grip on the club (and this is going to seem strange) is that the presser was called for 2pm and it started at 2pm. I don't know how many pressers I've waited for to start that have only got going when our reps have felt like turning up. I know it's only a small thing but it's how you should behave from the start with discipline and respect for those your presenting yourself to.

Stands back for p#ss to be taken.

CB and CM are the absolute priorities.

Jags, as much as I love the fella, should be back up / cup.
Williams needs the boot.
As does Funes Mori.
Keane needs another season.

So we need 2 in at least there.

Then CM. It's just awful isn't it.

I can't imagine McCarthy will go. Every manager that has been here since he was bought has shown patience because of how decent a player he is. Baningime needs a loan a la Dowell. Rooney looks like he's going.

So we have

Gana
Schneiderlin (hopefully fired from a cannon to West Ham)
Davies
Klaassen

Seriously lacking in quality and steel.

Silva says he wants to attack the market. He needs to start with the spine of our side.

Presumably, this is the 38-Man squad they were referring to:

  1. Pickford
  2. Robles
  3. Stekelenberg
  4. Coleman
  5. Kenny
  6. Martina
  7. Baines
  8. Galloway
  9. Garbutt
  10. Robinson
  11. Jagielka
  12. Williams
  13. Keane
  14. Funes Mori
  15. Holgate
  16. Pennington
  17. Browning
  18. Gueye
  19. Baningime
  20. Schneiderlin
  21. McCarthy
  22. Besic
  23. Klaassen
  24. Rooney
  25. Sigurdsson
  26. Davies
  27. Dowell
  28. Tarashaj
  29. Vlasic
  30. Walcott
  31. Lookman
  32. Bolasie
  33. Mirallas
  34. Sandro
  35. Onyekuru
  36. Tosun
  37. Calvert-Lewin
  38. Niasse

Would be quite happy to see all those in bold gone. That’s TWENTY players. Madness.
Some of those not in bold can go next year?

It's madness that we have so much garbage in the squad who shouldn't be getting a game for us. But a lot of them would be saleable at a fair price.
