Black Saturday

I said when the fixtures got announced, I thought we should be aiming for 10-12 points.

We were on course for 10 points until a cock up from an experienced player yesterday. We should have defended better.

However, overall, we're playing a lot better than we have been in the last 12 months. We're attacking well despite missing some key players. Defensively, we need to improve. Hopefully the new players coming in will help with that.

We need to beat a poor Huddersfield side next week, and it's been a decent - if not spectacular - start. But we will pick up points where we don't expect to later in the season as well. It's not all black and white.

I dont see it, tbh. Looks like a respectful tone is maintained, but that will be tested. And when it is the fact he was not Brands' choice will be decisive. IMO>

It will be a difficult balance to get right. The fact they are both experienced with this type of set-up at least offers encouragement that they can work together. I agree that Brands having to accept Silva as a fait accompli was not the ideal starting point.

They will say in public that they need to agree on everything and will take joint decisions but I don’t think that’s the case at all and it actually can’t be in reality. Brands has the ultimate upper hand in that relationship and as such, there should be a little healthy tension between them for both to get the best from each other. The best mates type of idea is extremely naive. It’s about balance. Brands must deliver support and structure, Silva must deliver good football and results.

They cannot be as bad as the two imbeciles that went before them, I doubt they ever even spoke to each other.

We have an defensive manager who sorts the defence out but sacrifices attack and we complain.

We have an attacking manager who sorts out an impotent attack but neglects defence and we complain.

A defence of Coleman, Holgate, Keane and Baines with Davies and Gueye in midfield was never gonna keep a clean sheet. Have patience and give him time to sort this out - I trust that he will when he gets the personnel the he wants in the first XI.
This
Coleman. Mina Keane/ Zouma Digne
That defence is a big improvement on last season
I love Coleman’s attitude and energy but if he doesn’t pull his finger out he will find himself replaced either next Jan or in the summer
Marcel has already shown himself to be ruthless

I don't see it as a black Saturday. Keane's will be a head injury but he will be back. He is looking a better player each week. I suspect he will be back before he would have returned with a muscle injury.

We played really well but still show some naivety in games. We need to learn to shut games down better, or get the 3rd goal. That being said it's a very harsh penalty (for me no different from the Tosun one) and another set piece. We do give other chances way, but to concede from 2 set pieces shows in all around play we are getting better.

It's all iff's buts and maybe's of course, but if the free kick is taken from the right spot on the opening day, or we avoid a dubious red card we win. If Richarlinson doesn't act in a petulant way we win yesterday. We should have 9 from 3 and how differently we would be looking at things had we have done.

Indeed. So I’m expecting at least two red cards and a 3-4 defeat when we play Huddersfield.....
