Billy's future

I think we may have no choice but to play Bily anyway next season due to player numbers. Regular games, and actually feeling like part of the team may inspire him to come good. I'm certainly not going to judge until 5 or 6 games in if he starts games, we can't afford not to as no-one looks like putting in solid offers at the moment.

I wish him all the best, as I do all the current squad.

Exactly, if I never see either him or Neville in CM again it will be too soon. We have loads of actual midfielders who can play there.
I think Heitinga's had some boss games for us in CM, although most of them came in his first season. Villa away 09/10 he ran the game until he went off injured, at which point we lost our lead and ended up drawing 2-2. Reminded me of an in-form Thomas Gravesen that day.

So, i've seen Bily make 2 great tackles to win posession for us in the last 2 pre season games so he certainly seems like he doesn't shy away from getting a bit physical when he has to.

Im still hoping he can pull it out the bag and become an Everton player. I never judge a player coming from abroad until their 2nd season and although billy is obviously past that point i remember thinking how bad felli looked when he arrived. At the moment he looks too slow, off the pace and lacking workrate. if he's playin out of position then why did moyes buy him? But i will support him fully right up until the day he leaves and i label him ****e.

I honestly think that's a myth created by one game over a year ago and a desperate need for evertonians to believe that their manager isn't completely senile.

Nah, mate. He was good for a few games and I remember last season him being switched to the wing a few times after starting up front and being markedly better.

He's been decent when he's played out wide, to be fair.

Not brilliant, but decent.

All I could really say about him is that he has the odd powerful run, but then he either hits the deck or chooses the wrong option. He contributed 1 assist last season and he hasn't scored in about 2 years. It's very difficult to justify him getting a game.

His last goal in the league came from a wide position, I think. He then got injured.

Last season he was hardly ever played out wide, only up front, so it doesn't surprise me he had crap stats. Because he is and was utterly gash up front.

I'm not saying he's boss out wide, but he's certainly a lot better. I don't see how anyone could dispute that.

His link up play with the striker has been tidy at times. If he could score a few more tap ins and develop an understanding with Baines it would do him no harm.

It looks to me like he has no confidence. He's no threat to the opposition whatsoever, whether he plays out wide or upfront. He's not getting in the positions to miss chances and he's not putting himself about to create openings for his teammates. I've said before that Moyes's philosophy is to let players play their way into form. Unfortunately, if there's a problem at the root of it, then that's only going to compound things. If I was Moyes I'd be planning on sitting down with Vic and working out what could be done. Maybe he needs to play alongside a physical partner like Yakubu? Maybe he needs a loan spell in the Championship? At the moment it's not looking like things are just going to click into place.
