Humanitarian Aid charities - same way any Refugee would.

I expect the decision to refuse will be related to exclusions under the Refugee Convention.

Most matters of legality are way beyond me but does is that legislation applicable to U.K. citizens , refugees or both ? Because as has been said in the thread I don’t think the leaving a citizen stateless is allowed under international law.

Assuming all of them were actually Jihadis.......y'know

Sure, they reckon there’s about another 200 still in Syria. British forces have an effective kill order on them as its cleaner than the homecoming option.

Problem is a lot of the 200 are already in US/Syrian/Kurdish custody which makes firing a brimstone in their general direction a little difficult.

This ruling on the teenage girl will have an interesting Knock-on effect for those 200 or so beardies.

How on earth does a 19 year old girl in a refugee camp in Syria get a solicitor? They dont get Legal Aid still surely.

Trump wants them back in their respective countries. I feel a threat of a trade deal will sort her citizenship agmonst the many others out very quickly indeed.

Make no mistake she will be coming home...

There's no schedule for the reasoning in the letter I've seen, so hard to actually comment.

But the relevant section of law for removing citizenship is here:

I don't think there's a legal basis for refusal, but it's hard to know without the schedule for refusal.

Trump wants those in US custody sent back as I suspect that he and his administration do not want enough Guantanamo around their necks, with all that it brings.

The difference here is that she is not in custody but rather in a refugee camp in the Syrian desert and as such is currently not a direct issue for his administration.

Will that change? Maybe, however it's not as clear cut as you're suggesting. Those in custody on the other hand, well that is where their sway may hold weight.

Trump said if their respective countries refuse to take them back then they would be set free.

That scenario kinda suits us.

Given my limited understanding there isn’t , that’s why I think it might well be the government playing to the gallery for some publicity and cheap votes .
Definitely an element of that based on my knowledge. I've seen nothing to suggest that she holds dual citizenship. The Nationality Act states that you can't refuse entry into the UK of a British Citizen if it leaves them stateless.

Tiresome she is now one of these political PR pawns wheeled out for convenience, and at great cost to all of us that pay full tax. She will end up back home maybe some years from now but she will be well looked after in the meantime at cost.

I think she was already that. The two camps are those that will apply the rule of law and those that will want to deny her access or Grant her access, which will largely be driven by misinformation.

There is well defined law, both internationally and in the UK that govern these situations. I suspect the Home Secretary might just be positioning himself as to try to shift any perception of blame on his part for adherence to law.

But it's hard to know until the reasoning is released.

In the ITV link, and the tweet, there is reference to her having dual Bangladeshi/British citizenship. If that IS the case, then one can see where the UK Gov thinking lies...

Her parents are Bangladeshi but I'm not sure she has dual Citizenship.

The government were blocked in two cases of citizenship refusal last year involving islamists of Bangladeshi heritage last year.
