It seems that her lawyer is stating that she does not have Bangladeshi citizenship. At best she might be entitled to Bangladeshi citizenship, but it would amount to an entitlement rather than the nationality by birth (jus sanguinis) that she would have as a British Citizen. However it would depend on the exact details of the case - Bangladesh would give her citizenship if her father is Bangladeshi.No but has she applied for it ? Because If she hasn’t then this will be a first is the point I was making . I know Cameron mused that this was something they’d considered but it came to nothing , presumably because of the legal pitfalls . I think dispassionately it’s an interesting watch to see how it plays out .
What complicates matters is the child as it would be entitled UK rights and I cannot foresee any court denying her the right to enter if she was with her child.
It's a relatively new power available to the Home Secretary, so it's all a little speculative.
