Berbatov

I would like to see someone like Berbatov at Everton. I don't think we have a lot to spend and thus I think we wont be able to get much better than him. I might be mistaken but time will tell. I don't know if something like that will ever happen though as we will probably struggle with wages as well. (Anyone know what his wages are atm?)

Its also worth noting though that at United, he's had Rooney, Nani, Valencia and Giggs putting them on a plate for him all season. Here, his supply would be tosh in comparison. He'd obviously not reach the same sort of figures, but it'd still be nice to have a good finisher around the club who doesn't have underlying fitness issues. He'll end up back in Germany for me though, still at a top European club like Dortmund.

As for working hard, its not everything. Its great if they do but its not the be all and end all, Henry at his pomp was one of the laziest players i've ever seen, but i don't think any team would've turned him away. Berbatov isn't lazy, not in the true sense of the word, i've seen him work his socks off for United in games, in terms of tracking back etc, he's just temperamental and that breeds inconsistancy.

On the other side of the coin, Dickov was a workhorse and he was/is boss.

Between 100 and 120k somewhere.

My brother suggested this to me last night and I shut him down right away. I told him I thought he would go to Serie A because the pace would suit him better than the Prem.

This thread has got my hopes up though (damn you!).

Realistically though I can't see this happening, his wage demands alone are enough to stop us signing him. I don't even think we need to get in to the other stuff with this debate (him wanting to play in the champions league etc).

Wasn't he the exact type of player we needed at the start of the season??? A bazillion chances and our strikers were too busy reminiscing about the greatness of Stuart Barlow than putting the ball in the net! No, we created plenty, he would have thrived if he was with us this season.

People seem to forget how good our play was at the start of the season as it was washed over in the fact we couldn't convert the dominance into wins.

I just don't know about him...I'm not one who thinks he's lazy. He has an easy style that can sometimes be confused with laziness.

Don't get me wrong, if we're up a goal against ManU with 15 minutes left, I wouldn't want him out there chasing and pressuring. But I think he gets a bit of a bad rap because he makes things looks so effortless.

Production is a bit of a worry for me. It's not as if his time at Spurs and ManU was all unicorns and fairies...he went through long stretches of being unproductive and scored half of his league goals this season in 3 matches.

And now he's saying he wants to stay at ManU.

He's said today that he's determined to stay at United and fight for his place. They'd have to push him out of the door for a move to happen.

Just saw that he said the same to some Bulgarian newspaper/media even prior to the CL match.
So that's done, really. Close the thread before something ridiculous happens.

Thats bloody hilarious.....I remember a game away to ipswich when he was sent off...think we won 1-0 with southall making countless saves....maybe Rideout scored.

Honestly Barlow got booed by our whole support that day after chucking the ball in th air 30 feet...
