Beckford to Leicester? Yakubu to Forest?

Beckford can't go at this point. Who would we replace him with, and why would we thin our already small striker pool. That is unless Moyes feels that Gueye and the Greek lad are ready for the big time.

Gueye has done his ankle ligaments in.

I am enraged when Beckford doesn't start -- if we sold him I'd just have to communicate with vomit.

Doubt we'd sell him but the fact that rumour turned out to be true is flabbergasting.

It's not... we will hopefully see a repeat of this next year.

Skysports.com understands Jermaine Beckford wants to stay at Everton despite attracting interest from a number of clubs.

Beckford bid been rejected apparently.

EVERTON FC have rejected a bid from npower Championship side Leicester City to sign striker Jermaine Beckford.

The Foxes made an official approach yesterday after manager Sven-Goran Eriksson pinpointed Beckford to bolster his strikeforce having been foiled in his attempts to capture LA Galaxy-bound Robbie Keane.

Everton FC instantly dismissed the offer for the 27-year-old, which would have only have reached the reported £3million value had a significant number of clauses been met.

Ambitious Leicester have their sights firmly set on promotion to the top flight this season but were beaten at home by Reading at the weekend.

Despite the initial knockback, the Midlanders are expected to return to Everton with an improved offer in the coming days for Beckford.

Having spent his entire career in the lower divisions, Beckford made the step up to the Premier League last summer by making a free transfer move to Goodison from Leeds United.

Along with Louis Saha, the forward was the joint top scorer for Everton last season with 10 goals in 38 appearances, only 17 of which were starts.

Beckford, however, is likely to find himself on the bench for Saturday’s belated Barclays Premier League opener at home to Queens Park Rangers with a fit-again Saha the preferred choice of Moyes.

Nottingham Forest are also keeping tabs on Beckford’s situation, with the Championship side also contemplating a move for Yakubu, who scored for Everton’s reserves yesterday afternoon in a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

It was a bid which eventually rose to £3mil apparently depending on appearances and goals, so it was rejected, however it was said that £3m is Moyes's valuation of Beckford and if he receives a £3m up-front offer he his widely expected to accept it. With that in mind Sven's offer was very clever as he probably expected to pay that anyway. It'll come down to wether Beckford wants to go or not as Sven will offer £3m up-front and £3m is the best we can hope for if Moyes has valued him at that then Leicester won't pay more.

My gut feeling is he won't leave, but money can make people do crazy things....

That'll be £3m up-front, with the same add-on's/clauses as the initial bid taking it to £5m, Sven/Leicester have had our pants down on this one, as soon as a club finds out the 'would-accept' price then that's all your getting, they know Moyes can use £3m for a couple of Loan signings. Don't know who but probably not a Striker. Moyes loves Vic and will use him as Back-up to Saha.
