I said in the other thread that Baines isn't looking at leaving and currently a contract for him is being sorted out, it isn't straight forward. The guy I spoke to was confident that he'll stay.

The fact his kids are huge Everton fans, and himself will play a big part in him staying.

Kenwright has the final say in everything, so if a bid comes in again closer to our valuation then chances are he'll be off

Im a bit shocked about this poll tbf...

I am too, to be honest. It's certainly nothing anti-Baines, it's more the opinion that Martinez can improve the team more by losing Baines and gaining the money than he could if he keeps Baines and loses the kitty.

His contract runs out summer 2015. So a statement from the man himself, or at least his manager, would go some way to help debates like this. If what Stubbs said was true, that Baines was disappointed not to join Man U in the summer, then you can understand most of those yes votes.

End of the day, he is a left back.

Kopite!!!

hes a world class left back. can get you goals from free kicks, boss penalty taker and runs up and down the flank like no other left back in the premier league.

There is 45 people who wanna go give there head a wobble, i hope you enjoy Oviado doing [Poor language removed] all down the left hand side.

It completely depends on who would be brought in with that money as well as what's left of the summer money.

If it meant that somehow we could splash it and buy Lukaku (obviously doubtful) then I'd do the deal in a heartbeat.

No. It sends out entirely the wrong message. We have a good squad and we're on the verge of good things; asset stripping in January is not the call.

Indeed, we should be spending fairly heavy in January if the right names come up. Let's get out of the Kenwrong/Moyes induced frame of mind here - we sold Felli and Anichebe for nearly £35m, we have money to spend.

Also, £16m for Baines would mean little really. We'd have to buy a left back to replace as I'm not convinced on Oviedo (and we'd need a back-up anyway).

We won't get a better left back for the money and we won't get an improved team. There's no reason to sell unless the player makes the request.

Baines cost £5m to begin with.

I'd rather keep him for 18 months but it will also be a shame to see him walk away for free.

The money could easily be wasted on crap players like Jelavic and Kone.
