I take it you voted yes.

Figures.

I was against selling Fellaini as he was my favourite player, a potential world superstar in that Makelele-position.

But after a few months of Martinez-era Everton I'm beginning to understand his plan. I think his strategy might be to lose Baines but gain Lukaku. We still have to make sure we've got funds left over for a high-quality new CB and LB.

The poll is neck-and-neck at 31/30. If I worded it: "should we sell Baines if it guarantees Lukaku?" the poll would swing even more in favour of selling.

Harsh realities of progress, that. Still far better than selling out the club to some nameless chicken Sheikh or cigar-chomping überwool.

Only an idiot would sell a World Class left back who's done nothing but great things at this club. Hopefully I worded that right...don't want any misunderstandings. The only thing that changes that is if the man himself wants to go and, if that is indeed the case, he should have the respect for the fans to say as much when he does as we've done nothing but give him tons of love. He shouldn't have to fear getting dodgy postal deliveries, like he might elsewhere.

It's quite simple, really.

If Baines wants to leave then let him. If Baines wants to finish his career here then let him. Selling him for 16mil seems a waste as he's a game changer and there's not exactly an abundance of quality left backs in the world.

Sell him and buy Lukaku you say? Great idea 1, if Chelsea are willing to sell. 2, if Chelsea's valuation comes anywhere near the money we can raise. 3 If Lukaku wants to step down a tier and not chase league, cups and champions league every season.

Also who's playing left back? Barry? He's nowhere near as quick as Baines and may get found out easily by fast wingers.

All depend on Baines heart, does he want to stay an Everton player and become a legend or follow Moyes and Fellaini and win some medals. If he wants to stay then I want him to stay, if he wants to leave then bye

If he was going to sign a new deal, I suspect he would've by now.

£16m sell him, and we really don't need to get someone like for like. Under Martinez the full backs seem much less important anyway, so if we get a solid at worst left back then the money can go on a winger and/or striker. Much more important to have someone to constantly stick it in the onion bag.

Also please stop saying we're going to sign Lukaku, it just wont happen. Unless Mourinho goes insane and decides he's garbage.

definitely not true that. Mo has all the strings n his hairy fingers

If Lukaku hands in a transfer request or decides to run his contract down then Jose will play ball (we need to qualify for Europe for that to happen). Then we just need to make sure we have the 20m ready.

I love Baines but I don't want any player at this club who doesn't want to be here.

If in some crazy situation we get the chance to get Lukaku and someone has to make way, I'd be all for it.

Time for the lad to come out and tell the fans what his plan is moving forward.
