Absolutely agree. It was no in August, it's still no on January with the potential of a incredible top 6 finish.

We fought long and hard to keep Bainesy in the summer. Why would we even consider selling him now when we're pushing for Europe. The only way he's leaving in January is if he himself forces a sale, but I can't see this happening meself.

Another issue to consider is if Lukaku would like to stay with us, how do we raise the 20m or so to buy him? We need to sell at least one marquee player.

Barkley stays...no debate. McCarthy fits the Martinez game to a tee, and he's only in his first season with us...stays.

Who else has a double-figures transfer value? Jags? As much as I love Baines, I'd rather keep Jags, for keeping the centre of defence settled is vital, and he needs a new partner as Distin needs replacing (love Distin too btw, but I've a feeling this is his last season as first-choice CB).

a: keep Baines & Barkley, lose Lukaku
b: keep Barkley & Lukaku, lose Baines

As would i mate, but i think if he genuinely wanted to stay at Everton this contract situation would have been resolved, if not, we'd at least know that negotiations are ongoing. At the moment the stance is 'No contract offered' which tells me, Baines, unfortunately isnt interested in one.

...agree. The other point is RM statement during the last window that 'this club will not stand in the way of players who want to leave'. Stubbs says Baines is keen on the United switch, so putting all of this together leads me to believe his future is sorted.

16 million is worth more to us than 18 months of baines. It would be different if he signed a new contract though.

Got done again at the far post yesterday and bang! another goal.

If I was an oppo coach I'd attack him every time with the form he's been showing, must be something in the water with modern players - world beaters to gash overnight - Torres, Jelavic and seemingly Baines.

Don't begrudge him a last payday so if anyone comes in let him go with best wishes - he's in on rep at the moment.
