He still aint for sale.
Im suprised it isnt higher than that, my thinking is that if the player wants to go, and the silence surrounding the entire thing leads me to believe he does want to leave, then well id rather have 16m than a player who has his heart set of playing for another team.
My opinion would change in a heartbeat if he came out and stated he wants to stay though
Baines has the makings of an Everton legend. He should stay!
very much this!
hypotetically speaking...we wouldnt be getting £20m like some seem to think here..i guess it would be around £13-15m.
Anyways, dont sell. Sign a new one Bainesy!
He still aint for sale.
I am too, to be honest. It's certainly nothing anti-Baines, it's more the opinion that Martinez can improve the team more by losing Baines and gaining the money than he could if he keeps Baines and loses the kitty.
His contract runs out summer 2015. So a statement from the man himself, or at least his manager, would go some way to help debates like this. If what Stubbs said was true, that Baines was disappointed not to join Man U in the summer, then you can understand most of those yes votes.
Sell, at £16.5m+ if he really implied he wanted to leave for Man Utd. Only if Martinez has ways to strengthen squad with the money, whilst keeping some towards a Lukaku bid.
Also it's probably me feeling overly sensitive, but got unresolved feelings to Osman's apparent need to motivate Baines with the fantasy football thing, and him seemingly reacting to give more because of that. Baines is brilliant but has a price-tag.
