Back Four For The Derby

We'll be playing Duffy in there at this rate.

We are not geared up for injury absorption. We need a proper deep squad full of quality, not the fantasy spun of how we already have one and are just fine tuning.

To me, Stones looked a bit shaky against Norwich, which is fine, hes a young lad and learning.

Couple of times they got round back of him and he was trying to recover, another couple of giving the ball away a little further up the park.

Against a team like Liverpool though even small mistakes like that against Suarez will be the end of the game.

Would you leave ronaldo out of the real team because he was injured and his replacement had a good few games covering his absence?

Would you start osman over Barkley if he plays well in Ross's absence?

I suspect the answer to both is No....

Baines starts ffs due to his boss'ness over 4 yrs a counting now!!

Two things.

First up Baines has been decidedly average this season and the team actually played better without him since he limped off in the derby.

That in itself is maybe no reason not to re-instate him immediately.....but the ongoing saga over his contract is.

Personally I wouldn't drop Oviedo until Baines had committed himself to our cause for at least the rest of this season.

I don't care about his "boss'ness" in the past, it is about the here and now and the future that matters.

And two free kicks at Hammers back in September has been the extent of his "boss'ness" this season.

I for one wouldn't want to see Baines starting in the derby if he is still mulling over a move to OT a couple of days later.....that would not be condusive to a top class display against the RS.

It's time Baines let us know what he wants to do.......stay or go.

As ever, all IMO.

Agree mostly mate, obviously i'd rather go with stones for this but thats personal preference after seeing distin having a few mares against them and dreading another in this game like, the barkley injury has gotten me thinking a points a great result, which is dissapointing as genuinely felt with him starting we'd get 3 points here

Yeah, thought this last night for the first time myself, sadly.

I can't believe people don't want to start the best left back in the world in a derby game. He has just got back from injury and is better every game. Plus he can do things with the ball and create things Oviedo can't while being a better defender. This is an easy one. I just don't want to see him starting both.
