Back Four For The Derby

If I'm honest, and no offense mate, I think it's a stupid thread...just like a whole bunch of other threads started here that really, for me are a wind up.

If fit our back four is Coleman Jags Distin Baines

You think Roberto is stupid enough to start a back four, in an AWAY derby that has never played together? Really? Thank fook you're not our manager.

/close thread...it's DUMB

No offense taken, I honestly didn't start up this thread to get anyone's back up, just to try to instigate a debate about something other than transfers. The thread isn't a wind up and I'm not gonna take it down but I appreciate your views of the inexperienced back four starting together not being the wisest move all the same.

oviedo is capable but baines is still better. baines distin jags and coleman are going to be our back 4 when healthy no matter what. besides alcaraz is out for a fortnight with muscle fatigue and if he makes the derby i wouldn't want him starting coming back from that.

Taking fitness into account (assuming Barkley is out), I'm 99% we'll line up like this:

Howard
Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
McCarthy Barry
Mirallas Osman Pienaar
Lukaku

I agree with that. and bring in mcgeady and Del off the bench if they're fit

I'm all for a good debate, when there is a point to be debated.

Alcaraz won't be fit for the Derby. Therefore, if Distin isn't back to fitness by then it'll be Jags and Stones in the center. Rather have Distin, but I think Barkley out for Osman is the bigger loss. Love to have a fresh signing by then to ensure Osman doesn't start.

If McGeady can get fit by then, he is apparently capable of playing in the "hole". We could line up like this in theory:

I'd like to see that, maybe Mirallas left with Pienaar down the middle and McGeady wide. I think Pienaar's more creative than either winger and lacks the pace that they have.

Can see James McCarthy being sent off for two yellows, by the way.

Michael Ball, Richard Gough, David Weir, Richard Dunne.... the back four we had last time we took all 3 from the pit

Do not want to see Stones in there. As good as he is on the ball he is very vulnerable to long balls over the top and that seems to be the main method of Liverpool attack these days.
