I find it hard to believe just how useless the authorities have been. The firefighters are working their nuts off but there just isn’t enough support. Meanwhile the whole of the Northern Hemisphere who have put their numerous firefighting aircraft away for the winter have apparently not even been asked for support, and that’s before we even get into the military. I take little notice these days of Australian politicians, but surely anyone with an ounce of common sense would have had the USA, Canada, the EU and U.K. on the telephone.....

Apart from the fact that the public has short memories and Morrison has just won an election, this and the fact that he went on holiday and had to come back early,will not do him any good.
I can see him getting rolled mid term as seems to be the fashion now in Australia.

I’m an Australian though living overseas right now. The PM doesn’t represent my views. He’s corrupt as they come. Huge shock that he won re-election, but then again the world has been leaning right for a while now. The world as a whole has had political institutions taken over by the rich and powerful for their own interests. It’s beyond tone deaf that people are arguing over the existence of climate change.

The worst thing is we have a friend in our group backing the damn libs, of course he’s a doctor and thinks he’s extremely articulate so he’s trying to spin it as green energy is too expensive. I’m just done with him right now.

He has made some bizarre comments and done some things that should have been handled better regarding these Fires

Comments made regarding the upcoming Test between Aus and NZ in Sydney - during a reception for the teams at the height of the latest Fires. These follow on from similar comments made at the height of another round of Bushfires in QLD and NSW just at the time of the Brisbane Cricket Test

He also took a Holiday at Christmas in Hawaii - basically his staff lied about it and then had an odd press conference when he reluctantly came home early because of the Fires

He also happens to be a Pentacostal Evangelical who once bought a lump of coal into the Parliament to wave around because we should all love it.

Scomo is a complete fecking idiot. Tries to keep everything light hearted talking about the cricket and people staying calm while the country is on fire, the reef is bleached and his government are busy getting adani in. Takes the biscuit that he buggered off to Hawaii with fires already established, fire warnings from fire chiefs and a huge amount of the firefighting manpower being made up by volunteer fireys who are doing 12+ hour shifts every single day in hellish conditions and not getting a bean (at the time). The guy is a disgrace be we have the leaders in him, Jonson and Trump, the people deserve as society is fueled by ignorance and populism at present.
