We still lack the mental belief and arguably the quality to go to that next level. The win at old Trafford and the subsequent league game at the emirates raised our hopes that bobby had instilled in us the confidence to win big games. Sadly our performances at anfield and yesterday suggest that old habits die hard. The result at city just highlights another great opportunity lost.

the anfield game can be dismissed somewhat because we had a team full of grocks.

our performances away at the other top 7 teams have been fine in the league - the results imo have not matched what we've deserved and that's all because we were playing teams with £20m strikers who have been clinical against us.

it's been progression looking towards the future imo, we just need to go into the summer and seriously look at how to be more clinical. the performance yesterday was one of our worst this season though.

Why exactly?

We could just as easily lose to Hull, Sheff Utd or Wigan in a semi.

We weren't good enough on the day, and yes we had on paper probably the toughest draw of the round (although Wigan would argue City away was tougher)....we lost, Wigan won. They deserve to be in the semi whilst we don't

You need me to explain the notion/concepts of what 'twisting the knife', 'rubbing salt in the wounds', 'getting kicked when you are down' etc etc? mean? Really?

The way I am feeling today, I do not give a monkey's about our "phenomenal" (to quote RM) performances away from home. Against the 'other top teams' (6 of them), we've got 4 points from 18. RM constantly talks of his players "enjoying their football"...how about just effing winning!!

Still gutted me, mate.

Following Everton is not a substantial part of my life so I do not usually dwell overlong on football results...but I must confess to feeling a little deflated this Monday work day. I know I shouldn't, but I feel annoyed to be let down AGAIN.

Was always going to be a difficult game for us, didn't think it was going to be as easy as that for them though.

Gutted about today

I do just want to say that the fourth goal came about due to Delo losing the ball when a pass was available. Just saying. Didn't really cost us the game, as it was beyond us already, but there you.

#vindicated

Arteta really went down in my eyes today. I don't expect him to do us any favours but I also don't expect him to outright cheat against us. I'll boo him in April for the first time since he left

Bloody Everton eh?

What a low

give it a rest would you, I'd still rather have him in our team than not....................and I dont think you're in a position to self profess your vindication considering your stance on the lad

I don't understand your point

I've been saying for ages that he'd cost us a goal or even worse due to his selfish play and on Saturday he did that, despite lots of people saying I was wrong. Hence I was proven right, hence I was vindicated

Do keep up

He did cost us that one mate. Even I can see that.

But it's important to not just pick on him. Lots of players cost us goals mate.

It was far from easy for them, it was the 83rd minute when they took full control of the game and won it, like i have said before, from the start of the second half up in till the pen i thought we were the better team it wasen't easy for them, 4-1 flattered them.

Of course mate

But there is a difference, I feel, from making a simple defensive mistake, or having a pass intercepted, than there is from running at the other team and losing possesion by refusing to pass to a team mate.

If he'd tried to cross it to Lukaku, a defender headed it away, and then they ran down the other end and scored, I wouldn't be angry, because stuff happens.

It's the fact he made a selfish decison and it led to his team conceeding a goal that annoys me

As we know mate, we'll never agree on this.

You haven't had a go at Lukaku or Mirallas for being very greedy in that first half mate.
