No...he doesnt. The players try it and mostly fail or they dont try it and pass it square or run into a blind alley.

Your faith in the quality of our players is admirable but I have been saying since the first couple of months of the season that our biggest failing is our play in the final third and these players havent gotten any more consistent or better with their decision making.

For me its clearly a case.of sound tactics but personnel needing replacing.

Agreed. The amount of times Pienaar in particular put the brakes on a counter attack was striking.

We need 2 holding midfielders with our full backs bombing forward or we would get thumped most games.

Martinez practically nullified any Coleman threat all by himself though! Mirallas was nowhere to be seen down the right all second half, Lukaku was hardly gonna track back was he!

We get thumped when Barry tires out anyway.

I think Barry often needs to do more running because of our attacking options. The movement isnt good enough and he needs to bring it forward as theres no pass on....and then the likes of Kev lose dumb possession and he has to cover back in an instant.

Better attack less desperate play for our overworked mids. Just an idea.

As good as Ross is, his defensive ability is not good enough...yet.

We have the players though.
When we break on the whole we go backwards and sideways and teams get players back.
We don,t create hardly anything.
Martinez had a great 6 months start but the last few months he is getting found out.

Hence why I said we don't have the quality

City and Chelsea are a totally different league with regards to financing deals for players, if you haven't noticed there owners are multi-billionaires

God knows why he decided to play Robles in such an important game...on the back foot from the start with the punching lark and gave no confidence to the defence especially young Stones. Crying arse Pienaar under-passing, over-passing and moaning when he should be creating...he must be under review now as hes ineffective and a even liability around our defence giving the ball away cheaply. Mirallas did not perform today but has no real competition as we are at starvation level attacking wise and though it was good Lukaku got on the goal sheet, he spent more time out on the wing than in the box for some reason. Ross did well in the first half but faded badly after his miss and any drive and creativity we had disappeared with him. A depressing result. But we'll just have to get a grip, pick ourselves up and the players all pull their weight as a team for the rest of the season and for the clubs greatest asset....the supporters.

Now that is what I referred to on another thread as why we should not sign him in the summer but I was shot down by some who liked him.

Last season under moyes we played some fantastic stuff creating loads of chances and if we had lukaku would have finished top 4.
Baines was excellant creating chances by the bucketload.
Under martinez with probably better players we are scared stiff when we get near the box.
Martinez just wants to hold onto the ball.
Its the tactics not the players.

no, but they're a terrible example. look at man city.

doesn't guarantee anything obviously, but it sure does help.

No its really not a terrible example, because City's finances are totally separate issue to the rest of World Football; teams who spent money consistently with the need to operate in a budget (i.e. Spurs, RS) have won jack compared to their outlay
