What would your expectations have been then? How many goals would you like to have seen him get in the 2nd half of the season?
He played 35 games so not half a season by any stretch of the imagination. He got 1 (hugely deflected) goal and no assists in the last 16 games of the season. He worked really hard for the team which was great but this weird suggestion that he carried us just doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny.

He has done well for an academy graduate, has a good attitude, and shows hints of having more in his locker, but if he wants to stay in the team then sooner or later he’s going to have to start actually producing the goods. It’s not controversial and it doesn’t mean people are turning on him or whatever, it’s just a fairly obvious truth.

After a very pressurised first season for the lad, before long Frank needs to evaluate where Anthony's best position is. He wasnt helped much upfront by Demarai Gray who was lightweight and easily smothered by Chelsea defenders. At a break later in yesterday's game, Frank was very animated giving Anthony new instructions and I think he needs to be played to his strengths of speed and tenacity. His shooting leaves a lot to be desired as well as his judgement in passing so both need specialist attention from someone at FF. Hes an honest lad with a great attitude and real application to do his best in the blue shirt but Anthony needs to be honed properly into the very good player he could be.

If you really wanted to cherry pick, another goal richarlison scored off his arse and one of the Brighton goals took a big deflection as well. He only scored one clean one

Some interesting maths there.

He scored 4 goals in 35 games.

2 vs Brighton at home, 1 against Leeds and 1 against Man U that was a massive deflection.

Not a good enough return for someone who’s rated as one of our best players.

I do get that mate, and on the face of it is a very modest record. I think the things to factor in though would be:
1) He started 25 games, and was a late sub early on quite a bit.
2) He was playing in a woeful team, when he broke into it, so that has to be factored in somewhat, he wasn't playing in a side that made a load of chances.
3) The top scorer got 7 none penalty goals in 28 starts and has just gone for 60m or whatever it was.
4) He was rated as one of our top players, as much for what he did without the ball as what he did with it. His defensive contribution was excellent.
5) That goal record did get better. The first 10 games or so he was feeling his way in. In the 2nd half of the season he got 4. 1 was definitely lucky v Man Unuted, but he had one goal stolen off him really V Bournemouth so swings and roundabouts.

I do think people have to be realistic. There seems to be some expectation he is going to be dominating games every week. He won't be. He will be up and down, but if he can get 7 or 8 goals, that would be an excellent return IMO.

He doesn’t assist nor score much. We cannot reply on him.

Ive a lot of faith in the lad mate, i see a huge ceiling, i see penetration, i see taking a man on beating him, i see yards being made up, i see world class defenders struggle with him - the position he plays for us is a tough gig, many say he creates nothing - personally i think we lack a cutting edge, i mean who had to aim at yesterday, by the end two of their defenders had to come across to occupy him and shut him down when he was on the ball, he will benefit when/if we have more cutting edge, others to occupy defenders, another foil and frankly when the team look like they have someone who can score a goal.

Have absolute no doubt about this lad, ceiling is huge, i see it in young Patterson to - quality.

The way Everton fans reserve zero patience for local academy lads who break through to the first team will never cease to amaze me.

Of course we all want him to succeed. First thing first we must buy a good enough striker to lead the line.
