BACON AND SYRUP?!?!?!?!

BURN THEM!

And then scrape off the syrup, hand me the HP and leave me alone.

Oh, Denny's is s***e. That is no lie.

If you're not going to work any harder than that to find a proper breakfast, you might as well go get your "egg" mcmuffin.

As in Bootle, it's no great task to find crap eats over here. Local knowledge always triumphs.

Ask a local, they won't send you to Denny's. I'll be glad to work my way through your list, however.

Bring it on - sounds very tempting, especialty the Ulster fry. (goes to search for pictures)

You want to try the shrimp and grits, though.

Denny's is always full of your weird fellow compatriots every time I go in there. Ahem, just for a look round or something.

I've got a mate who has promoted the virtues of shrimps and grits to me several times, I will defo try it.

Look up lava bread too, it's a speciality of South Wales. Very good indeed. It's seaweed and cockles on toast.

Haha, it sounds ridiculous but it is actually really good. Looks awful too generally. Kind of like black porridge.

Before 10. Check.

Will Uncle Junior do? Nothing like the Sopranos, mind you. He was just my Uncle Junior from Alabama. Wonderful man.

You qualify for your full quota of grits. Enjoy.

Are biscuits basically plain scones?

And exactly what is 'American cheese'? It's cheese food slices isn't it?

Like these - 10 for 38p

Yep on the Amurrican cheese. Not much flavor there, but good on a burger I guess. The "individually wrapped slices" are vile. That said, when it must be Velveeta, nothing else will do.

Now, for the biscuits. Not scones at all. Much lighter and fluffier than a scone. A scone is a definition of a bad biscuit. Good as a scone, but it doesn't do what a biscuit does. Biscuits convey a mother's love and breakfast warmth. Scones convey jam. You have to use soft, almost cake flour, buttermilk, good shortening and not work it much at all. Cut'em, bake 'em, serve 'em fresh.

Love on a plate.

That looks about right for "American cheese".

When I think of biscuits, this picture comes to mind - soft, flaky, buttery, so good:

Yeah. But I suppose I've never had a good scone, only mass produced ones from Starbucks or something, so I may not know what I'm talking about here. Scones always look delicious to me, then I'm disappointed because they are so dense and dry.
