He clearly will carry some measure of blame. No question. No one is arguing otherwise. Not sure why you think he's not arsed.

There was no consensus in the intelligence community in the US or elsewhere the Afghan government and military would collapse in a matter of moments. Suggesting they "sat" on the intel means you believe the US lied to her Allies about what they believed to be the most likely scenario and knowingly put US and Allied assets at risk. This may be your assumption but it's not based on clear and compelling evidence that I've seen. You referenced "rumours".

More than 70,000 have now been evacuated from Afghanistan.
Biden's not arsed as he's a one-term president. That's even if he makes the full term due to his health.

Rumours - yes at the moment. Hopefully the truth will out in time.

Yes 70K evacuated against a backdrop of tens of thousands of Afghans - crushed up against the barricades of HKIA, people clinging to aircraft and falling to their deaths. British military having to exfil special forces teams cut-off and surrounded in Kandahar.

It's thanks to the bravery and expertise of the troops on the ground combined with the tactical planning of the airlift commanders that 70K have been evacuated - it has very little to do with the politicians and the bean counters in Washington and London.

Once again the military bale out the political establishment

The withdrawal is all on Biden. You can't point at Trump on this when he's been President eight months and had every chance to stop this.

It's not like he's compelled to finish Trump's wall is it?

It's all Biden and it's been done for the domestic electorate. Giving the American first some of what they want before he hits them with his climate agenda.

As soon as Trump originally set the withdrawal for May, i would have been out. Fine as I am now, pale and blue eyes. Had I been a native of Afghanistan supporting our forces, reckon I would be jumping through hoops of purgatory to get into the UK.as we are full apparently.

Like the 'weapons of mass destruction' miasma in Iraq.

The CIA and MI6 will be rightly lambasted for not predicting the swift fall of Afghanistan to the forces of darkness.

I saw them put those numbers out like really you're gonna try to paint this like it's efficient or something.

70,000 isn't impressive when you have probably hundreds of thousands who I feel the US should at least be looking out for. Just trying to awe people away from criticism by the sheer size of the number.

It'll backfire. How many days before a republican argues that we've taken more than enough refugees because of that number.

Well backfire if you believe the US should take almost any woman and child who want to leave. As well as interpreters and afghans who served in support roles

Reporters don't half ask some stupid questions:

"If the people can't go to the Kabul airport for fear of a terrorist attack where can they go?"

Yes, like they're going to tell you live on the BBC another possible location for people to gather. Do they think ISIS don't have TV's or something?

World Beating:

THE Home Office has blamed a “technical glitch” after callers to an emergency Afghanistan helpline were redirected to a washing machine repair company in Coventry.

Priti Patel’s department was inundated with complaints as people were left on hold for hours or unable to get through at all.

One caller in Scotland – who was phoning on behalf of their family in Afghanistan – also complained that instead of speaking to a UK Government official they had been put through to a washing machine repair firm.

Then rinse and repeat…..

Another mate down the pub who gets a juicy tax payer contract.
