Thankfully it looks like the Irish Rangers Wing managed to get everyone on their list out of Kabul. They were supposed to be going out on US flights but in the end most went on a French flight with the rest going on a Finnish military flight - the first flight out after the bomb today.

Probably not a coincidence but Macron is in Dublin today for meetings with our Government.

Disappointingly it apears there is now about another 20 or so Afghans with Irish residency still in Afghanistan.

Apparently the British military (who the Ranger wing train with from time to time) were a huge help as well.

Glad to hear they all got out safe and well. I know I wouldn’t wanna be on that last plane out of Kabul.

Be interesting to see the stance the USA take after they have lost so many personnel today. If they just get off with their tail between their legs then it sends an incredible message to the world that they are so weak, you can pretty much do as you please with no reprisals.

no, it doesn't

The predicted terrorist attacks on the airport materialised with tragic consequences, unfortunately this an all too likely occurrence once the US president Taliban Joe issued his hasty ill-thought out order to withdrawal

Even the normally strongly Democrat supporting US TV networks political commentators' have been weighing in on Biden. Totally furious that the man they supported - mainly because he wasn't Trump rather than what he was, even quietly suppressing obvious doubts before the election, has proved to be such a loser and clearly just not up to the job.

Trust the Taliban, don't take any questions and concentrate on anything other than this disaster, the elephant in the room, has been his tactics at set speeches. He may even be indicted if the Republicans win back Congress next year as is now looking more than likely.

He's sleepy, old, clearly failing and may not have much longer anyway. The Taliban and Kabul will be his epitaph

In a normal world I'd say Biden would not survive this, but obviously we're living in strange times.

There was some momentum for the President as his typical media allies moved from silence to defense over the last few days (a lot of talking points about the # of folks evac'd, etc.) but I can't imagine there will be a lot of defenders rallying to him now.

I probably don't see it as black and white as you, but that message is already out.
