2025/26 Adam Aznou

Not to say he should have been playing at full back - but managers absolutely do sabotage themselves, all the time. They aren't perfect and constantly make mistakes, including about which players to play.
People are making out that Moyes doesnt like youth and is deliberately not playing him that's the point im making. He probably has half a clue more than the average couch dwelling GOT forum user, which isn't to say managers arent exempt from criticism and dont make mistakes but how can anyone on here know he's good enough based on 20 mins against Sunderland.

We've not seen Aznou play at full back other than being very average in pre season friendlies. The wings are very competitive positions for us, probably the only positions we are strong in. He's just going to have missed to bide his time like everyone else. If he was better he'd be playing, managers dont sabotage themselves.
Yeah that's why JOB didn't play last year, cuz managers don't sabotage themselves. These old "set in their ways" managers absolutely do tbh.

As I said before, I see where you're coming from, but Mykolenko has been hot garbage for a while, worst case is Aznou gets some actual experience for 20-30 min and is also average/poor, but has an upside that he can learn. He looked very shaky in pre-season imo, but was good vs. Sland, for example, so maybe he's building confidence. It's unreasonable to give 3 years to a younger player to build confidence though, at that point they're a U21/second team regular and shipped off. Zugzwang, in a way, for both him and Moyes.

Either way, he won't play for a while, so this is all just for the love of arguing more than anything.

He 100% doesn't like youth and prefers fabled experience whenever possible though, that's not anyone making it out - just about every possible situation for him, he'll pick the experienced player over the young one, doesn't matter if the experienced player is playing on injections a-la Cahill, is just back from a tournament and knackered or he has to play out of position. It's been this way for ages, and it will always be like that, which would be fine, had we not spent a substantial amount of money on unexperienced young players

It’s not just him

Moyes doesn’t seem to trust any of the younger players we have signed including Dibling, George as well.

Why did he sign them if he’s not going to play them or are these Angus Kinnear signings ?

Yep, he though my KDH and Grealish where both 6’4. Absolutely shocked when he saw them in real life. If he had any other choices he wouldn’t have played them.
No what they are is they are big club rejects and Davey loves a big club reject. You could have a talented younger lad who with a bit of refinement round the edges could be a worldie over a season or two or you can have a top 6 player who is being bombed out for whatever reason (loss of form/age/injury) Moyes is always picking the big club reject, Its just his way.
