Aaron Lennon

He was poor today and still created two great chances. Deulofeu was awful and is too weak on the ball, he's played under Maryinez, Enrique, Emmery and now Koeman and has never been a definate starter, he's weak as piss and will never offer up two back to back 90 minutes.
This says it all about you and your view of football. For me, anyone can see that Deulofeu and Barkley are the two most talented players at the club.

A manager worth his salt will get that out on a regular basis. Ours gets £6M per annum. I expect him to earn that and get those performances.

Ability is irrelevant if they don't want to put the hard yards in. In fact it's starting to gall me, especially with Ross, that he has his dream job and he can't give his best efforts. It's not managerial, it's him. He has a stinking attitude.

Playing him in his best position might help. He needs to play deeper.

rather than getting personal, why didn't he get a regular start under any of those managers? Are Emmery and Enrique not worth their salt? He wasn't even a regular under Martinez. He has fitness issues, that's undeniable.

Position is irellevant at times with Ross. It's mostly basic stuff. You get an aerial challenge, get up and compete regardless where on the field it is. A loose ball drops, stick your foot in and make a challenge. He bottled so many challenges today. That's basics.

I don't think he has the necessary desire.

If the creative ones ain't creating eggs maybe it's time to give an industrious player a go on the wing.

I know you ain't been impressed with how we've played so far, what personel changes do you think may help, Kev behind Rom perhaps and drop Ross. Del on the right, Yanick left?

If this week has taught us anything it's that we are painfully short of options to really shake things up.

...I think we lack creativity, Maccavennie but I don't see Lennon solving that problem. Don't get me wrong, we couldn't have been worst off with him today but I always think of him as defensive more than offensive. Perhaps we just need new players rather than revolving the same who continually disappoint.

Also Mirallas has scored 27 goals in 5 seasons at Everton Lennon has scored 33 goals in 13 years in the premier league.

I dont see this as being that important.

First of all Lennon defends a lot more than Mirallas, Mirallas used to be a striker (still should be in my opinion) so will obviously be better at scoring and has also taken free kicks and penalties which Lennon has not.

Looking at goals scored isnt the be all and end all. Players like Mirallas, Ged etc are also responsible for us conceding goals as they dont work hard enough or go missing completely in games. They have more natural ability than Lennon but they wont always have an impact on the game. Lennon has weaknesses of course he does but you always know he is out there on the pitch.

They are totally different players so a comparison isnt really fair.

Has Lennon actually done anything wrong in an Everton shirt though?

This is why I dont understand how some fans have just seemingly written him of.

...I think he's ok, he always puts a shift in. My own view is that he was great in a struggling team but if we want to get to the next level he doesn't do enough offensively in the top third.

Yeah I kind of understand that. I think he is effective in the final third though as he moves the ball a lot quicker than our other attacking players who just love to take a touch too many. he is never a guy who will have loads of goals and assists but I do think he has a hand in a lot more than it seems.

I just think we need to get back to basics first. We need to stay at our perceived current level (contending for Europe) before we think about going up a level.

Got to agree with you eggs mate. He's certainly not good enough if we actually have ambitions to compete again.

But taking today in isolation, I thought he was the obvious option to come on. We were so lethargic it was embarassing. His energy would have hopefully got others alive too. Gerry Deleuofeu isn't the right man for a battle where graft is needed. His lack of gut is a concern.

On a whole, I think our attackers all have the ability. They just lack the gut and desire. And I don't know how we rectify that other than by signing better players.

I'd get him back in. The other wingers are stinking the place out right now. Lennon will at least take care of the ball in the final third.
