A concern about Martinez's approach

Your getting boring now mate, he bought two Wigan players, the third was a Athletico player. We have been linked to Wigan players because it is his old club, just like Moyes is being to players he knows.

It's all paper talk, nothing more.

People can say it's just paper talk, but so far we have Wigan's manager, Wigan's half crocked centre back, their striker, their goalkeeper from last year, and there are strong noises that we are going to swap Fellaini for their central midfielder.

He has sunk you with his response to be honest. I edit that lot above and have another crack.

Really no idea what you're talking about, more disconcerting is the fact I don't think you have.

If you don't understand many of us judge EFC and success beyond a league position which is "respectable" as it's only claim to fame then as I said previously - what is there left to say.

Have another go - be a bit more specific and I'll see if I can help.

We should just wait and see how things go after 10 or so games and that will give us a good idea of how things are going to pan out. Same goes with transfer talk and him maybe/maybe not going in for another Wigan player. Lets be honest we havent seen anything of Kone or Alcaraz yet to judge them. Not worth stressing out just yet!

No, there isn't strong noises at all, it's all conjecture. Owen Coyle even came out and said there hasn't been any enquiries for him.

We've just bought/signed 3 decent players who will add quality to our squad, we've needed a good sized squad with depth for a while now and we're actually getting there with those signings.

Deulofeu, another bonus and the fact he's starting to push some of the youth through is encouraging signs.

We've been linked with over 2 dozen players recently, some of them made up, some of them not, none of us really know who and if he's going to go in for someone before the window shuts.

He won,t be given that amount of time lid unless he has a flyer right out of the gate.

I think he will mate but thats just my opinion. We have had 11 years of Moyes so it may take a while to get used to different things/style of football/inconsistent results but I think in the main we will be a patient bunch. Of course if we lose 6 draw 3 and win 1 Mike Walker style thats a different kettle of fish plus any incomings and outgoings are going to be hugely important to how the team is balanced and settled. Like I said in my original post John, I am willing to see how it goes and not get too stressed yet until the games are coming thick and fast. Still plenty of twists and turns before a ball has been kicked!

Fellaini's going to Wigan is he? Not happy about that lad, neither will his Arl fella be.
Martinez out.

I reckon we're better than kopites they were dog rough last year but give BR a fair crack of the whip... then again you clearly don't think so saying 10 games and thats his cards.

Bet you've got your fingers crossed and your hand on a picture of Moyes in your ass pocket.

Fair enough, the club will handle the echo in case it gets to be a problem and will manage fan expectations via okeefe but the national media won,t pander to the club. The game is a global 24/7 fishbowl EVERYTHING is looked at in terms of fine details and the big picture.

It,s up to Bob to get off to a flyer.

I think Martinez will do fine this year so long as he keeps Felli and Baines. I anticipate a 7th place finish as there will be an early learning curve, and our transfers thus far have been less than inspiring. Hypothetical for everyone. What if we tank under Martinez and finish 15th. Moyes struggles with his new post, United finish 4th, and he is let go from United. Would you have him back?

I hope you're right mate. I'm looking forward to seeing football being battled on the football pitch and not in the newspapers, but if I had to review our transfer activity this summer then I don't think we have been very ambitious, and replacing Fellaini, and possibly even Baines, is going to have a massive effect on the team. Making the wrong choices has the potential to set us back years.

When did we lose Fellaini and Baines?
