A concern about Martinez's approach

Player Valuation: £50m
Martinez has been saying since he arrived that he wants the players to be flexible and adapt to using different tactics, which is fair enough.

However, in preseason he's varied his team selections and formations that much that I'm worried the players aren't really able to get used to playing any formation. Being a 'Jack of all trades and master of none' isn't really what we want going into the new season.

Just hope it doesn't effect us when the real games start.

Hes trying different things, different players, pretty sure it will settle down when the Season starts.

Its pre-season, new manager, some new players, perfect time to mess around a little bit, think the Betis game will give us our best clue of formation and players.

I was thinking this myself, though I hope its just Martinez trying to find out what works and what doesn't. Not huge on switching between 3 at the back to 4 half way through a game

I know, but I would have expected him to have settled on a side/formation by now so they had a chance to play together how he wants them to. We could end playing Norwich with a side that have never played with each other before.

Pretty sure he will go with the bulk of players from last season, its not like hes gonna change 6 players overnight, mainly due to the fact we dont have 6 new players, chill bro, its all good.

Not likely, I suspect for the first few matches of the season we'll end up with more or less the same formation and players as we finished last season with, with the exception of possibly Pienaar, Howard and Jelavic.

Valencia would tonk Norwich.

We've played, what like four preseason games and it's a new squad for him. I know the league starts in a bit but I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of tinkering left even then.

No need to get apocalyptic after a rather forgettable pre-season match mate.

Wait until the prem is about 10 games under way before you begin to fear for our souls.

As much as these games are meaningless I think it's a good point raised that we need some continuity before the Norwich game, hopefully we'll get the perceived best XI out against Betis on Sunday.

For me it's a tricky opening to the season and we'll need to hit the ground running. Norwich have bought well and playing away in the first game is never easy, West Brom are well organised and be hard to break down- something we're notoriously poor at.
