I think you're a bit too pessimistic on American attitude to what's happening in the Middle East. A majority of Americans oppose what's happening to the Gazans.

Of course you cant just campaign on Gaza as a single issue - that'd get you nowhere. But as part of a package of progressive policies it takes its place.

One of the major conclusions the Democrats will draw from their inquiry into what went wrong will be that they failed to take on board the concerns of a significant but marginalised group like the Arab-Americans and underestimated the toxicity to their own campaign of critics of an unethical foreign policy.

Next time will be all about presenting a clear difference between themselves and the mouthpiece of Trumpism who will be presented to them as an opponent.

Dave, the Palestine issue is a lose lose for whoever is in power. You go pro you gain in certain states but lose across the US, you go against you lose in certain key states but gain in a broader spectrum.

Organic is nonsense, for privileged people who can afford it. I will agree that organic produce is nicer and generally keeps better, I enjoy it and I do buy the odd bit, but it would not be possible to feed the world's population, by a long chalk, using only organic production methods.

The rules are stupid as well. Organic farmers are allowed to use copper sulphate as a pesticide, which is catastrophic for the environment and absolutely rapes soil.

For organic honey, you have to keep the bees captive, etc.etc.

You only need, in the UK, a certain percentage of organic ingredients to call your product "organic".

There is a lot wrong with monocrop, industrial farming and its effects on soil quality, but If we are going to stand a chance of surviving the climate crisis then we will need to embrace GMOs.

City living, permaculture and food miles are what need looking at.

I think they have to come to terms they are no longer seen as gold-standard by the American public and will have to realize that MAGA/Trump is what majority of Americans believe in and want. Won the popular vote decisively and a clear rejection of the establishment. It's no longer a fringe movement that some radicals want.

There's no need for your question. It's well understood, as it has been for decades, that a huge percentage of the labor in building trades is provided by undocumented workers. It's why some of George Bush's biggest financial backers in Texas (housing developers) were in favor of a more sound immigration policy that would provide them with a steady immigrant labor force. Didn't happen back then because of House Republicans bucking the POTUS of their party and it's not likely to happen now, because of nativist nonsense.

Here's my point and I hope this helps: if the law is more stringently enforced, building slows, costs go up, home ownership becomes even less affordable for the consumer, and rents go up.

It's hotter than the hinges of Hell in Texas for months at a time. Very few Americans are willing to work outside in the sun for 8-9 hours a day for the rates builders want to pay.
