Trump didn’t care that Christie was at high risk for Covid complications and didn’t tell him that he had tested positive and yet afterward Christie (after time in hospital where he thought he would die ) was still giving him some support.

That is the sort of statement that someone puts out at the end of things, not the start.

DeSantis wins that nomination if he says he likes what Trump did, will do more of it but the problem is that the Donald is too old. Trump will bark himself into a fit trying to pretend he isn't in his late 70s and will end up threatening to take his ball and go home rather than "save America".
