If that alledged discussion took place exactly how it was layed here what do you think about Obamas answer?
Havent seen anything about it.
If it's true,
I'd say it was a private conversation at a funeral.
I'd imagine Biden is hurt that his party put so much pressure on him to step aside.
I'd imagine he still thinks he's the best candidate.
And I'd imagine, given they were having a private conversation at a funeral, Obama probably told Biden what he wanted to hear.
What's he supposed to say, "No, joe, she's a stronger candidate than you, now excuse me, where are the hors d'oeuvres"

Not one person said the Democrats couldn't pick another nominee if Biden dropped out.
Nobody.
What everyone said was that it was too late for him to be challenged.
Yet, there you were and here you are again saying you got it right.
All you're doing is making your self look dafter.
But that wasn't my argument. My argument had always been that if Biden was forced to abandon his reelection campaign it would have created a scenario where others ended up lobbying individual state delegations at the DNC for support. Instead there was a coronation.

Misrepresenting someone is daft...

I dont really understand what you're even saying here.

You went on and on about the likely hood of him being challenged and everyone told you that was highly unlikely because the primaries were done and the convention was around the corner.

I dont know what happened behind closed doors in the Democratic party but if you can find me any post where you proposed the idea of Biden stepping down and being replaced, and anyone telling you that that isn't possible. Then I'll hand it to you.
But you didn't, you went on and on about the possibility of his nomination being contested.

Has 'the apprentice ' film got much attention in the states? I've just seen the trailer and the guidance that Cohen gave him for business was rather familiar!!

No, haven't seen much about it.
I presume you're talking about Roy Cohen.
Cohen is a direct tie back to Joe McCarthy and the America first movement of the mid 20th C.
Fascism and racism has been in Trumps make up forever.

I've never used the word 'challenged in relation to Biden once in this thread.

And it was never my contestation that people had told me it was impossible for him to step-down - what I did state was that some people were adamant that the time for a contest had gone. I always rejected that.

ugh. I'm not doing this.
Go and complain about the windmills next to BMD
or the wall
or god knows what else

You literally never listen. To anyone. For the umpteenth time:

1) Biden, as a sitting president with another term, would never think of stepping down
2) Biden, when continually confronted with polling data, discussions with respected Democrats, the weight of his awful debate performance, etc, etc, eventually saw the light and realized he was at the very real risk of losing. To Donald Trump of all people. Let that sink in.
3) No one "forced" him to do anything. He wasn't going to be thrown in jail if he stayed in. He wasn't going to be executed. He really did see he could lose this thing.
4) Since it was so late in the game, for reasons we've described over and over and over again, there weren't a lot of options, all generally equally bad.
5) Therefore, now I'm spitballing here, but it probably went like this:

"Yo, I hear you guys. I'm trailing an absolute moron in the polls and I got my most trusted aides saying it's looking grim, pops......what should we do"

"Well Mr President, it's the end of July and we can have all out warfare for the next 3 weeks within the party, making us look even worse. Or we can get everyone on board that we should roll with Kamala. Let's call Gavin and see what he thinks."

"Yo Gavin here, what up? [listens intently]. Oh sure, got it. Yeah, that could get ugly. Sure, sure, yeah i hear you. Let's roll with Kamala. She's the VP, she can do the job, let's go win this thing."

And this happened with a number of top Democrats.

Once they all got on board this was the best course of action, the decision was made.

You want the alternative of all out warfare. Fair enough. If Kamala loses we can play Monday morning quarterback. Or in footy parlance, why did we start Ashely Young yet again instead of Patterson. Whatever. I know where you fall on that spectrum.

But given the terrible options on the table, this was the one that was made

Very sensible viewpoint.

So what do you think of those MAGA weirdos wearing hats that say God, guns and Trump? Isn't that worshipping a false idol?
If they remade ‘Deliverance’ for modern day audiences, giving one of the hillbillies a MAGA hat in ‘that scene’ would actually make it look more realistic…
‘We’z gonna make ‘Merica great again, but first we’z gonna make you squeeeeel like a pig, boy!’
