I mean.... highlight the bits that aren't true.

I am not saying that Sanders running as an indepedent would be a good thing, but it is mainstream Democrats fantasizing about booting him out of the Party, not vice versa, and I thought it might be helpful for young Steve to think it through a bit more carefully.
I didn’t say “not true”, I said “one sided”

What is your point, exactly? Do you want the Democratic Party to win the election, or not?

If Sanders drops out/is turfed out of the Party, and goes back to being the Independent Senator from Vermont, then he will not become the President.

And neither will the Democratic nominee.

Who do you think suffers more from not holding the White House?

Sanders (a man who has inhabited the political and geographical wilderness for decades rather than compromise his principles)? Or the Democratic Party and its remaining supporters?

The Party needs him a lot more than he needs them, and whether or not you feel that is unfair or 'one-sided' is not really relevant.

Thankfully, for those foolish enough to actually like the Democratic Party as an institution, he is not going anywhere, unless they do something unthinkably stupid even by their standards and cast him out.

But those inclined to throw temper-tantrums all over the internet because, mostly by sheer implication, Sanders reveals the Party for what it really is, would do well to better grasp the actual balance of power between the two.

Stop with the patronizing.

You can make a point without insults and patronizing others. Or making it seem they are lesser than you or not as informed.

Considering your posts are as one sided as those you deride its quite funny actually.

Three American residents have told you that the groundswell of support for Sanders has dried up or is drying up yet you still post like he's got the same currency he had in 2016. No one from America has posted in agreement, commenting on the Sanders movement or even considering him a serious option for 2020.

Your whole hypothesis on Sanders and the Democratic party is three years too late.

My point is that while (in your estimation) Sanders is the only way the Democrats get power, the Democratic Party is very much the only way Bernie Sanders gets power.

Acting like his aligning himself with the Dems is some entirely altruistic venture that solely benefits the party is naive at best, disingenuous at worst

I have been more critical of the candidates I support, and more willing to engage in pertinent criticism of the candidates I support, than I suspect you have ever been about any member of the Democratic Party, likely in the history of this forum.

I am not commenting on 'altruism', I am commenting on the balance of power, my assessment of which you yourself acknowledged was accurate.

Likewise, @Ruairi77, for probably the eight time now, I am not predicting that Sanders will win the nomination.

Given that i have never once spoken about any of the candidates in the current run that's true. I have my opinions on who i think is a good enough candidate but its too early too tell. Most of these guys will be out soon enough anyway. Ill wait to see who the serious contenders are and the state of the party when the time is right.

I never said i liked the Democratic party or how its run.

In fact I have been critical of the Democratic party and Clinton on numerous occasions. I hated the way the whole thing with Sanders went down. But if you think it was all them then it shows your bias. That's always been my point. Many sources and writers feel the same way.

See there you go again with assumptions. This is what you seem to be happy doing.

You tell people you know who they are but in reality you have no clue. The fact you called me "young" and at the same time compared me to Joey says a lot. That proves you have an easy time being a condescending pr**k.

Are you even able to vote in the elections? I get everyone has the right to have an opinion and be subjective etc.. and many of you do have a lot of great points and good debate. But when you dismiss the opinions of actual folk who live in different states and who read and see much more local and state news and who work and socialise with others here too its disrespectful.

Also are you a teacher/lecturer? You come across like a teacher?

If you have really low standards for what you consider to be a sensible use of your limited time on this earth, I suppose.
Aww. To be fair your bickering me with is probably 10 times more a waste of your valuable time! ;)

I get that but you said he's the only one you'd vote for if you had a vote.
You seem to be excited that he's polling well and think, like in 2016 he has a lot of power.
I'm just making the point that the polls aren't bearing out what I'm seeing.

I like Warren and apart from Sanders she is the only candidate I would be satisfied to see winning the nomination.
As I've mentioned, I prefer Sanders but would be pleased if Warren won.

"'I don’t know how Richard Nixon could have won. I don’t know anybody who voted for him.'"

No offence (I guess I will have to start every post here like that from now on...) but as unreliable as polls have been of late, and as worthless as they are at this stage of the campaign, they are nonetheless more valuable by a factor of ninety-nine kabillion-zillion-trillionty than you, Steve, and what your friends in Boston tell you they plan to do in 12 months' time.

I lived in the US for eleven years, and might well know as many people in Boston as you do, for all that's worth.

Anybody been on Joe Biden's official campaign site yet?
