Obviously still very early but interesting to see who is currently outperforming their name recognition. Especially for the less well known as it will probably match with an increased fundraising haul that might give them time for more primaries/debates in hopes their candidacy takes off.

Yeah, hardly a shock that right now name id pretty much = polling position...

That will change as candidates get their stories and names out there more widely. That's why Bernie and Biden leading right now doesn't mean a whole lot - there's only really one direction their polling share can go.

From the snippets I’ve seen Buttigieg launch was a pretty good speech overall

It was excellent to be fair. I really like him. He needs to work on the diversity of his base if he wants a chance to win, I'd guess, but the contrast between him (and, to be fair, pretty much the entire field) and Trump in terms of intelligence and grasp on the issues is just incredible.

Yet I've got more chance of being elected US President than an openly gay guy.

Warren has been great at providing a raft of policy proposals over a wide range of topics.

I like that she's moving away from the faux folksy, trying to be a people person, and concentrating on what she's good at and what would make her a great choice to be president.
She's still in a good position to unite 2016 Sanders and Clinton voters.
Yes, the pocahontas thing was a mess and, doubtless, Trump will nail her with it but she's never going to win over Trump voters.
She needs progressives, moderates, women, and minorities. And if she keeps rolling out sensible policies, she might have a chance of winning them.
At worst, the other leading candidates will likely adopt her policies.

I also like that, even if you don’t agree with all the specific policy proposals themselves, they give a base for discussion of issues and what solutions they might have - an approach which may be better way of engaging those who are disenchanted with current tribalistic politics.

Probably too early for a GOP primary thread but it looks like Weld is definitely going to run.
He's fiscally conservative and socially liberal. He was mass governor for 6 years in the 90s and seems to be quite highly thought of.
He could appeal to New Hampshires libertarian streak as he'll rail against Trump for running up the national debt.
There's no chance he'll beat Trump but he might do well in NH and could build some momentum from that.
Formally announced today

Good man Bill! He’s made his life hell by running. Hope he can get some conservatives to deal in reality

The right will do their best to rip him apart. They will treat him like they treat the left. Lies and stupid sh** to try discredit him.

Give it a day or two and Trump will call him names on twitter and make up some silly nickname
