I think O'Rourke has the best chance of that lot of being elected - the best of a bad bunch. I think Warren would be battered personally.

Sanders is too much of an extreme opposite of Trump. The way to win for the Dems is to appeal to the moderates who may have voted Trump but regret doing so.

For all of Biden's faults (many of his policies) he crushes Trump. Just sets him ablaze. No one has ever been better at taking down phony bullies on the campaign trail than him.

Probably too early for a GOP primary thread but it looks like Weld is definitely going to run.
He's fiscally conservative and socially liberal. He was mass governor for 6 years in the 90s and seems to be quite highly thought of.
He could appeal to New Hampshires libertarian streak as he'll rail against Trump for running up the national debt.
There's no chance he'll beat Trump but he might do well in NH and could build some momentum from that.

When Weld was Massachusetts governor he wanted to fly the statehouse flag at half mast when Jerry Garcia died. He faced too strong a negative reaction to order it but it was a nice gesture, especially from a Republican.

Genuinely don’t understand why one of these “never Trumpers” who have outright admitted that he’s unfit for office don’t run as a third party candidate.

If one of them did, he 100% loses re-election in a landslide. They’d only need to take probably 2% of the vote away from trump.

Lindsay Graham was once one of those guys...oh how things have changed.

I think Kasich would be an ideal 3rd party candidate.

Even Flake.

It pretty much wouldn’t matter who it was, just some vaguely sensible Republican (not that they’re in particularly great supply).

It’s a damn shame McCain isn’t still with us.

Because then Bernie Sanders would win, and that would be even worse

anyhow, speaking of third party candidates, whatever happened to magical centrist Howard Schultz?

the socially liberal, fiscally conservative common-sense bipartisan pragmatist, who the 5% of the population that is socially liberal and fiscally conservative insists that everybody so desperately craves (as though the collapse of exactly this consensus in Britain, the United States, France, Italy, and soon to be Canada has all just been a big misunderstanding).

Oh you mean that fella who did zero preparation on any issues, save for bashing anything Democrats try, while deciding that because he’s rich he could circumvent the primary process and hand the election to Trump?

Hopefully he crawled back into whatever hole he came from.

Oh he is still making the rounds
He told Business Insider in an interview last week that he was "as concerned with the current left-leaning tilt of the Democratic Party towards socialism" as he was about the chances of Trump being reelected. "Both these solutions, in my view, would be a terrible choice for the American people in 2020," he said.
...
The immigration issue, to me, should easily be solved, but what I've come to believe is that Republicans and Democrats on both sides don't want to really solve the problem. They'd rather have this as a political issue, not allowing either side to win, to claim victory than provide the American people with a common-sense solution that 80% of the American people want.

Beto O’Rourke looks an interesting proposition, he could be a real dark horse in the run in.

I still think Sanders would be the most credible threat to Trump though
