He tried, he played out of position when asked even though he took stick for it and he hasn't refused to go because he thinks the teams interested in him are not good enough. He didn't cost £13.5 million.

He was better suited to play as a right wing back. He didn't get many chances, but when he did he put in some good performances. He could certainly put in a good cross.

I'm not going to criticise him for his performances at left back. He did as he was requested.

Did he? I remember him being even worse when he played at right back. That performance against Spurs at home at the start of the season was a true 0/10.
