Do you care about the 'fleg' at city hall by any chance? In other words, what's the point of us voting if we can't be involved in government? .
How about the media ask SF why they don't bother turning up to represent their constituents/oppose the tories? Then this arrangement would be meaningless.
About October I gather. Marvellous eh?When are we expecting the next election then? November? Next summer?

I was jesting mate! I agree. Why run an election asking people to vote for you when you won't give them a voice in Westminster as well as Stormont! In fact we couldve easily had a scenario were those 7 seats made a difference to the outcome of the vote. Not particularly mate. Can't say it's something I care for. Accept when the tossers used to add 20 minutes to my drive home with their protesting.
I'm just saying best way to oppose tories is surely to take your seat and add 7 more to the opposition. I don't understand moaning when you can actually go and have influence against the party whose government you don't support.
The majority parties on the mainland and NI aren't representative?Anybody who voted tory and who supports this coalition with the DUP should hang their head in shame... I would be too embarrassed at this obvious desperate grab at staying in number 10... utterly disgraceful and not representative of the voters at all. .. shamefull from may this
Just reading through all this now. I think a fair point to make though is that PIRA have been decommissioned for nearly 18 years now. Most influential figures in politics in the North were up to their balls in paramilitary activities, directly or indirectly, even the British and Irish governments too. How can anyone ever move on if they constantly keep living in the past and dragging it up. The only other way is to completely reform Stormont with new unaligned parties, voted in based on policies rather than the religion they represent, and filled with representatives under the age of 25.As I've said mate, there's just a scarily high amount of real lowlifes floating about here. Lots of associations and links which I'm not comfortable with, and obviously there's issues with certain unionist people over the years. None of those things listed are acceptable from politicians. And quite frankly I can't vote for DUP for a lot of these reasons. I had to plump for a total no hoper instead yesterday.
It's not misinformation tho to say that DUP are not linked directly to paramilitaries. Whereas SF clearly are linked directly to the IRA. That's the point I'm making. The DUP 100% guilty of being associated with a lot of disgusting things. No evidence of any of their leadership being involved directly in terror.
I didn't live through most of what happened and I suppose I was lucky. But if my impressions are wrong on issues then I apologise and you obviously had the first hand perspective I don't.
Not only held it but gained a 12.2% increase. The abuse Diane Abbott got from the media and some voters was a disgrace.
She should be admired for all the obstacles she has had to overcome in her life.
Made up she won her seat as an MP again, despite the smear tactics.
