Its fine imo to say you haven't got the figure off the top of your head but it's in the manifesto. It's absolutely not ok to bluff and make the figurs up like Abbott did, and then claim you were misquoted.

That's the logical position. But I said after the Abbott interview - 'why didn't she just say she couldn't remember, it's in the manifesto, and she would look it up for him off-air'.

But after today, that's why - in the media portrayal, not knowing off the top of your head is the crime.

So I actually have a bit more sympathy for her, as had she said that, it would have had the same media response anyway.

He is on about JC and the cringeworthy moment on Womans Hour. It is a bit bad.
Do you know my opinion now is both leaders of the main party are poor, backtracking forgetting costs figures both are as bad as each other - Corbyn was in disarray on that programme this am he had the manefesto with him an I pad, and a telephone call still could not get a figure on childcare - May has a cap on social care that is just not available as is fuel allowance for pensioners - this is just a mess imo from both sides!

That Women's Hour interview isn't good is it. The thing is with all of these things, it isn't the politicians that will be implementing any of this, so I wouldn't expect them to have an operational handle on matters 'that' much, but they are the ones who ensure the budgets are there. Taxing and spending is their main role, so to not know about either is pretty poor.

I agree, they are both poor. Said it before but politics is in a bad way at present with the current high powered politicians in both the main parties being full of poor people.
