This is what they keep saying, but one does wonder how true it is; for a start, almost everything there is about him has already been used by loads of opponents and we have had eighteen months of regular attacks on him by a fairly united political class and media - so there is unlikely to be the huge bombshell out there, and even if there is people are not going to be surprised by it.

This is after all what happened in the US presidential election where the media and the Clinton camp spent months having all manner of legitimate and illegitimate pops at Trump, to the point that [Poor language removed]-grabbing tape was released it had zero effect for them - enough people either didn't believe it (because of the clear agenda the media had in that election) or weren't surprised by it to the extent that they wouldn't vote for him because of it.

If the polls continue to narrow, I'd expect that the attacks will probably take the form of increased internal opposition to him - Blair's increasing visibility lately being perhaps a precursor.

Totally agree with this, however, I do think they'll ramp up attacks on him, simply because when people go to vote, they want people to think of Corbyn before they go and place their mark next to Labour and they know that if they are successful in doing that, a lot of people will have a last-minute change of heart.

I hope they don't. Like Scargill before him, give him enough rope and he'll do the job himself, attack him and people may vote out of sympathy.......

A terrible interview, though even with this I note that its front-page news in a way that our Prime Minister declaring war on tourism wasn't.

Haha, that's ace !
The truth is that most politicians tend to be hazy on detail, for every gaff by Abbott, there'll be one equally as bad from a Tory in the cabinet.

Having said that, being so far out in a bit of mental arithmetic would be a bit worrying if I thought Abbott was ever going to be in a position of power, and she is a liability. If I were in charge of the Labour party i wouldn't have her in such a high profile job and I'd keep her away from the press.

Mind you, if I were in charge of the Tories I'd be keeping Boris Johnson well away from anywhere he could do any harm.

This is well within the realms of deliberate self-harm:

Firstly, Diane Abbott should not be allowed anywhere near a camera or microphone, but more importantly, why doesn't she just say yes?! So frustrating.

I think boris has been put in a locked soundproof box after his Mutton-headed old Mugwump comment.....Abbott will just carry on as usual......

I couldn't even make it through the Abbott interview. It's absolutely disgusting that someone in such a senior role as hers can go into an interview so ill prepared. You'd think with the media antipathy towards the Labour Party they'd all be doing their utmost to ensure the message is solid and clear- she obviously didn't get that memo.

I gave out more food vouchers to children's families in my class today. The likes of Abbott are letting people down. Millions of people who need a Labour government. It's sickening.

Abbott may be incompetent, she may put her foot in her mouth on a regular basis, but at least she has stood up to fight in this election.

I have far more respect for her, and for the rest of the current Shadow Cabinet, than those in the PLP who are sitting this one out - and doing so for their own sakes, not for the rest of us.

Don't worry, any frustration I have with Abbott is multiplied for every Labour MP that has done more to fight within their own party than take on a Tory government. The whole thing really does send me to despair.

Because the answer is "no", but they're terrified to admit it.

The irony is at this point it doesn't matter because everyone knows it is a "no", and they're unelectable as a result.
