2013 January Transfer Window Thread

Not that money flying around when we end up making the 3rd highest transfer day deal - £3M on a promising 18 year old - only Graham to Sunderland and Samba to those idiots in West London being greater (obviously Balotelli but he's left the PL).

What a fantastic job the board have done today, congratulations to them.

Best signings of the window would seem to be Holtby (£1.5m) and Butland (£3.5m). I imagine that we were in for both but the players had reasons for joining other clubs. With Holtby it might have been London life, Freund/AVB and their reputation for attractive football. It seems like Begovic will be leaving Stoke in the summer and Butland will go straight into the first team, which is something that we couldn't offer.

Monreal and Butland?

So our rivals didn't invest significant money to strengthen.

Is that not further sign of a missed opportunity? Again, I'm not blaming anyone.

I am sorry to piss on your chips, but there is absolutely no substantial grounds or evidence to back that up.

Willing to bet the only money in the summer for new players will come from the sales of Fellaini and probably Heitinga

The money for Fer/Negredo was probably an advance on the £14m tv rights money due in the summer.

We WILL finish 4th
... I truly believe that - and I enjoy being positive - a lot of you spend your lives moaning on this site - get behind our club/team FFS. The atmosphere on Wednesday was terrible - it doesn't matter how much you are paid but if the reaction of your audience is negligible, it will affect your performance. We won by default. Why can`t our home support be like our away support?

NO HOME support is teh same as the away.

No we didn't.

And the other teams had already strengthened, so it's a moot point. Doesn't matter what day you buy players as long as you buy them.

So we needed a midfielder in August and tried and failed to get one then. Now we have made a balls of this window and not tried apart from a guy we pulled out of signing and then didn't get anyone else instead. Shambles of a window and now Neville has to play again and again and again.

If we had 14m euros why did we leave it till the last few days? We never had anything near that amount. Moyes (if hes still here) will have about half the fellaini money to spend.

We were trying to drive the price down by leaving it late and hoping that chairmen would relent and let players leave more cheaply.
