Easter Saturday iirc when we destroyed Chelsea at home to set up the West Brom game midweek! And came home delirious after the clincher to be allowed to stay up and see the highlights of the Celtic Leeds European Cup semi final!!! Eating chips and drinking cream soda until about 11pm on a school night!!! Nirvana for the soon to be 11 Allezlesbleus!!!!

Aren't those attendances much lower than the real figures?
I'm not old enough to know but have read that clubs often announced much lower attendance figures to avoid paying tax on the full total?
I think someone on here was saying how a favourite joke for him and his mates was to laugh at the attendence figures announced at half time.
Yeah, you're probably right. I know they announced lower than the actual attendance in the 80s.

It was quite common back then to pay for one, and two could squeeze in through the turnistile. It was usually followed by a quip "See you later Harry" as they flew into the ground!

The last home game V WBA - 58,000 it was nearly a lock out so I would add another 5000 to that figure my family got in the park end just 1 hour before kick off..... ques were everywhere not all ticket either, parking was horrendous.....even in those days.....

Was at that game13 at the time, use to go the games on my own back then, get the 12or 12A from page moss to lower breck rd and walk down daunting times, the walk back even worse. Remember getting into the Annie road end early found a big space behind a crush barrier thought great this will do for me it was only when the crowd surged forward and I got crushed against the barrier that I realised why there was a big space, learnt my lesson though.
Yes always get in front of the barrier not behind it, a hard lesson most of us learned by getting our chests nearly caved in.
