Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

The reality is that if one of our players who has been racially abused is seeing the tables turned on him its because we are a weak club easily pushed about and not able or capable of standing our ground. We saw that when Allardyce and Walsh failed to speak out in the lads defence post match. And the reason the FA and pro Liverpool journalists are able to push back like this is because we are a shambles of a club right now. They are taking advantage of that fact.

From top to bottom we are a midden of a club and we WILL be taken advantage of.

Have to agree with this, Dave.

EFC has been like a rabbit hypnotised by the stoat's gaze since Friday night.

(probably too busy rehearsing last night's comedy show)

The club should have been more pro-active and now we find some brain dead cultist sitting in his ma's basement has set in motion a counter attack which Everton seem unable, or unwilling, to repel.

This club is rotten to the core and as weak as water.

Is it ?

He called his mate a 'battyboy'... Ali G used that term regularly for years and no one cared one bit.
I daresay whoever unearthed the tweet didn't care before the Firmino incident. I doubt there will be action taken for something he did as a 15 year old, but it works to undermine his credibility, which was never rock solid to begin with.

I don't get this at all.

Have the F.A. nowt better to do than "investigate" a few tweets made by a fellow whom was a minor six years ago?

There is something very Orwellian about that.

And if a dictator was ever to rise in this country, the outriders for his new Dystopia would be the Kopites.

Like everyone else on this forum I have family and friends favour the Reds.....must I view them all with a suspicion that beneath that respectable facade there lurks a brainwashed beast hellbent on undermining everything I hold dear :hayee:

It's absurd isn't it? He was 15 years old at the time.

In addition to that, it's very nefarious that someone who has complained of being racially abused is now being dragged through the mud due to people digging up 6 year old tweets.

I think that Liverpool FC fans have some serious questions to answer about their attitudes towards racism, because I think what's happened here is absolutely abhorrent.

If Everton had backed Holgate robustly and swiftly then the narrative was set for all time that way: Firmino/LFC on the backfoot struggling to get their counter attack in play.

It's just basic PR work the club is rubbish at. They just dont give a flying one on stuff like this and it's so damaging to us.

You should have started that with 'as much as it pains me to say'.

This might be the maddest kopite I've seen yet...

hahahahahaha absolutely no basis for his opinion on holgate whatsoever. Holgate's past isn't exactly riddled with controversy. I bet if you go through that guy's history a few months back you'll see him defending suarez and his past and constantly making excuses. Imagine being so sad and desperate that you think a pro footballer won't get anywhere because they once pushed a guy haha

what would be the point in banning holgate for what he tweeted?

FA:"right we're going to ban you for one game to make you aware that what you said as a young boy was wrong and that you'll never do it again"
Holgate: "Yeah, i haven't said it again since, it's been 6 years and as you can see, there's no other similar incidents"
FA:" 2 game ban then"

I'm the same age as Holgate. I genuiney shudder anytime someone calls someone else 'gay' as an insult, I find it backwards and regressive. But I did it when I was 15/16. It was normal then and I hadn't grown up and matured to understand it was wrong. i.e. I was a kid.

This doesn't make it right, but a public apology should cover it for me

Funniest thing is his description of currently banned drink driver Roberto Firmino as "honest, hard working and with good reputation".

Couldn't make it up.
