2025/26 David Moyes

We tried to press them all night. You can have your CMs not participate and just cover but then the game looks complete different. It has nothing to do with personnel.

I saw that we forced 35 high turnovers in this game. Criminal lack of ability to turn that into chances. A management problem full stop.
35 high turnovers and the options around you are Gana and Tim, tell yourself what you want to believe.

But it's not a coincidence that those 2 players weren't a major part in those turnover failures..

Watch, don't read !!

Would be very surprised if he is moved on in the summer. Would take a pretty massive collapse in the last 10 games, which isn’t out of the question.

But we won’t be any better next season than we are now, because we have done nothing this season to prepare ourselves for the future. If he stays on, he will sign “PL experience” again and rely heavily on that, or on the current members of the squad. Young players have been ignored, criticised and played out of position. I don’t think many will be lining up to join without Europe and with a few cautionary tales now available.

That’s not the end of the world, but it would be a shame for us to sign on for a second “consolidation and rebuilding” year when so much more of that work could have been done this season with better foresight and management.

No that’s actually not how it works. They’re the ones allowing us to force them, it’s more a Barry, Ndiaye, Armstrong and tonight especially KDH issue.

Yea if he stays on he will play even more safe with ''PL exp' players to try to get s contract extension.
I've been happy with the job hes done but I don't see progression, regression if anything. He keeps repeating the same mistakes instead of giving Aznou, Dibling, Charly or Röhl a chance.

He needs a big finish this season but it's hard to see that happening

Obviously disappointed with the lack of coherence in linking up the attack where service could be more efficient especially in regards to the set pieces , still frustrated with Moyes insistence to have Gana operate on the ball outside the opposing teams box and not include Rohl or Charly.

At the same time we actually provided a fight and were competitive throughout the match so I don't know why copious posters are in an uproar acting like this was a major debacle it's not like the 4-2 loss to Brentford, people need to put matters into perspective, man united is currently 4th and have spent 700 million net in the past 5 years

Let’s put this in context, he averaged 1.63 PPG last season playing a different type of football with a worse team. He’s spent £120 million and is averaging 1.37 PPG this season. He’s changed the style of play. Is it not damn obvious he’s going backwards? Bin off in the summer.
Last year he tried to play to his team's strengths. We looked to play the striker in and allow Beto to ourmuscke and outrun his oppnonents. He made some poor squad selections here and there but his strategy was fine and looked better when Alacarz and Dwight were introduced for Doucore.

Now he is trying to play a Tiki taka around the opponents box without any actual decisive through baller in the lineup and a striker that isn't meant to play in a possession based system. We also have no fullback play so teams are allowed to double on our wings and pinch the middle and make it next to impossible to get chances through the center without creativity. Oh- and none of our wingers have pace. Save for the Chelsea guy we brought in on loan. He is just horrendously misusing what we got and did not do well enough in the transfer window to make his preferred style viable.

We never looked like scoring tonight. That's pretty irritating

Saw the press interaction post game and thought, it was poor by Moyes. Defending himself with a blanket management decision rather than talking us through the changes or the reason players were played out of position. His dismissal of Joe Thomas' relevant questions and later sharing what was favourable for him during the interview, all reaks of the same. It was a big game for us and he seemed to treat it differently.

David Moyes has had plenty of chances to break into the top tier and sniff those European spots, but he bottles it every single time. And he loves bottling it specifically in front of our own fans.

We can all see his team sheet from a mile away, and the match goes exactly as scripted. Sure, that coward ball might nick points away from home sometimes, but it’s soul-crushing to watch.

He talks a big game about European ambitions, but his actual tactics have the ambition of a wet paper bag. He’d rather sacrifice our best players, shoving them out of position, just to make room for his golden boys. And god forbid he never sub them off.

Meanwhile, we’ve got hungry youngsters rotting on the bench. He sticks to the same stale substitutions, refusing to adapt a single damn thing.

To anyone saying, "Oh, be happy with our mid-table spot, at least we aren't relegated"— We’ve lost two in a row at home and haven't won a single home game this calendar year. We haven't even hosted City, Chelsea, or Liverpool yet, and Arsenal is still lurking.

We finished 13th last season, spent over a hundred million this year (well, "spent" is a strong word when most of that money is just sitting on the bench), so let’s see if we’re actually progressing like the optimists claim...

He’s been here just over 13 months.

We are possibly set for our highest finishes since 8th under Koeman and Silva.

I’m all for parting company at the end of the season, but doing it now would be
There isn’t really.

Unless there is a degree of commitment to building something over many windows and to be frank that’s what we need - We are doomed to repeat this thread over and over.

We’ve done that for the last 9 years, not only does it not work, it progressively makes you worse.

It’s like the last 9 years didn’t happen.

The team, never mind the squad badly needs investment, it’s not great.
Villa went from hovering above the relagation spots to regular European football in less than a season. It can be done with a winner for a manager. Now whether we could attact one is another matter.
