Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

That’s my one concern with Moyes. Will he be building for long term or quick results? (That’s the issue with a lot of premier league managers who are rarely in place long term).

On a purely selfish level he’s guaranteed improved results with some of those you’ve mentioned but aren’t going to bump us up to the next level that we want long term
I’m not worried about the personally. I think Moyes will have his eye on being here beyond this first contract so makes sense for him to bring a mixture of young and old in this window.

I tell you what, the “press” can’t stop linking us to 30+ year olds.

Everton Old Boys

Current side we have, where i have decided we've signed all the players linked so far would be

GK - Benitez ( now signed for Palace )
RB - Kyler Walker with Coufal understudy
CB - Keane on a new contract
CB -
LB - Tagliafico
RW - McAtee
CM - Souceck
CM
LW - Grealish
ST - Barry and DCL on a new contract

Is 'dithering Dave' now on his jollies? Really doubt anything will happen between now and July so may as well sign off until then...by which time most, if not all, our 'targets' will have gone elsewhere, anyway.
I thought we’d got rid of people like this when we got rid of our last managers. I was hoping we had fans who understood football by now.
You can’t make it up these days, Footy manager fans everywhere.

Kinnear has a key role in transfer strategy as a balance to Moyes and a support to the recruitment specialists. He should not be telling anyone which specific players to buy but he should be making it clear:

1. How much total we can invest in annual amortisation (which infers fees and contract lengths) and wages plus add-ons, agent fees, image rights etc.
2. Whether this assumes any planned/assumed sales and if so what
3. Some guidance on investment strategy including how that investment should ideally be spread in age tiers between academy and eg 21-24, 25-27, 28+ (he goes through with the others including Moyes and gets collective buy in if possible but if he has to set rules so be it)
4. Some guidance on the commercial/marketing ‘sweet spots’ for new signings eg do we want a marquee name? Are we targeting specific markets or demographics commercially? None of this would be prescriptive (eg not going to say we must buy an American or buy someone with a huge social following in u23s etc.) but it might inform a decision between two equally rated ‘football best fit’ players

It will be interesting to see if the new Committee set up can run smoothly or whether it will be divisive. It is a normal way to operate in industry and TFG has experience balancing disparate views and egos in TV/movies so fingers crossed.

Signing Walker does nothing solve the RB issue we've had for nearly 10 years.

Why don't we signed RB we can leave in situ for the foreseeable as opposed to constantly signing stop gaps.

I've never ever known a club to neglect a position for so long like we have with the Right back position.
This will be an incredibly unpopular opinion but it's because of Coleman. His value to a succession of managers as a bridge between the coaching staff and playing staff, it seems to me, has made them reluctant to seriously look at replacing him. I'm not sure that isn't still the case.

He wasn’t really though - they finished 2nd twice and 3rd once in 3 of his 5 seasons there when he was a mainstay of the midfield

Okay 32 and average never stood out for me and if he's a Brazilian, so am I, in fact I would have to see the passport. 32 is a terrible age to be buying a centre mid, probably paper talk at least I hope so. Otherwise come back Thelwell all is forgiven. Rant over. :)
